You hear so much about the success of the laser-assisted procedure, that you start having unrealistic expectations from it. Although the procedure itself is quite safe and painless, there are many factors that determine the outcome of the procedure. also like in any other surgical procedure, it has its own risks and complications that you must be aware of. You can term your New York Lasik as successful only if you have realistic expectations from it depending upon your own general and ocular health conditions.
The main purpose of the laser-assisted procedure is to eliminate or reduce the dependency on the glasses or the contact lenses. If your goal is to have a much better vision without the dependency on the glasses and the contact lenses,

Hence, it is vital that you discuss all the possibilities with your surgeon before you undergo the procedure.
Before you undergo the laser-assisted procedure, you must be aware of the following:
• To get the best possible outcome of the procedure, you must always follow all the precautions and instructions as given by surgeon diligently. If you are advised against performing certain activities for few weeks, then you must avoid them. You must also take all your prescribed medications as given and put your eye drops as recommended.
• That the New York Lasik procedure cannot give a perfect vision to all the candidates. However, it may improve the vision and reduce the requirement of the glasses or the contact lenses in majority of the patients.
Few patients may not get their best vision within few weeks after the procedure but may get their best vision after several weeks or months. There are many factors such as the healing rate that affect the outcome of the procedure.
