In Mary Rowlandson’s Captivity Narrative the Indians were pagans and she was a puritan. Sometimes the Indians were very rude to her and other times they were nicer. In William Bradford’s Of A Plymouth Plantation Bradford just came over to the new land and found the Indians and figured they were savage barbarians. Mary Rowlandsons Captivity Narrative contradicts William Bradford’s in his Of Plymouth Plantation. This is shown by Bradford only thinks they are barbarians and Rowlandson has grey area in her time spend with the Indians.…

As much as humans like to control their own lives, there are many aspects that are outside of our control. For example, we do not choose the families into which we are born or the places where we grow up. The same is sometimes true of friendships. Some friends we choose because we identify them as people who are similar to us and because they offer us something we want. Occasionally, however, we make unexpected friends. For example, a young person bumps into someone at the library who is crying because she has lost an important paper she was writing for school. As a result, the two become friends and learn that helping people through tough times is at the core of strong relationships.…

Passage one and passage two describe work as a stress-free obligation to complete. Both passages send a message that gratification and satisfaction is attained by the effort put into their life duty. In passage one, the author’s feelings towards his grandfather were admiring. “And when I was done, I stood leaning my shovel for a moment, looking with satisfaction down the long path that stretched to the corner.” His grandfather inspired him to get his work done voluntarily with pleasure. The author in the passage was rewarded for his hard work by seeing the jubilant kid’s using the sidewalk for school. He did not HAVE to shovel the sidewalk; rather, he did it for self-enlightenment. In passage two, the author had positive feelings towards working. “I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cat, who pull like water buffalo, with massive patience, who strain in the mud and the muck to move things forward, who do what ahs to be done, again and again.” The author explains in this quote how strenuous labor is the key to work. The narrator enjoyed being around assiduous wokers. The overall view of work is to push oneself and finish the job blissfully rather than dawdle working with little effort.…

Niemöller would give the advice to speak up and speak out for what you believe in or to help someone because later on there might be someone left to speak out for you. The speaker would most likely not agree with that perspective, from the first passage it seems to me the speaker is more of a silent learner. But something could happen to him like with Niemöller where he didn't speak up and then there was no one left to speak up for him. Not being silent could help not only you but a lot of people later on. Niemöller learned that if he would have spoke up there could have possibly been someone left to speak up for him. The Speaker should have spoke up because he could have saved a lot of people like the mother being misused by her children and being neglected. The speaker could have spoke up and possibly saved that mother or made her life easier to deal with. To watch cruel things happen and not speak up will come to haunt you in you end. There could be additional consequence to speaking up where your opinion was not necessarily wanted but it could also help.…

Most assume that selfishness is both wrong and unhealthy. But is this true? Selfishness means acting in one's best self-interest. Contrary to popular opinion, all healthy individuals do have some levels of selfishness. Dr. Seuss displays a clear picture of selfishness through his story The Lorax. Likewise Hosea Griffith also does the same through his poem The Selfishness of Hearts. The main characters in the story, Once-ler and the Lorax prove a great point of selfishness. The Lorax is the story of a boy who's looking for answers. Living in a ruined town, this little guy wants to know the story of the Lorax, so he goes to the Once-ler, an elderly inventor/manufacturer. The Once-ler tells the boy how the town came to be ruined, and most importantly, what he can do to turn things around. As a matter of fact Seuss and Griffith reveal how selfishness is a curse of the human race through the use of literary devices; more distinctively that selfishness pushes people away.…

1/Nastic Movement: "Nastic movements are non-directional responses to stimuli (e.g. temperature, humidity, light irradiance). The movement can be due to changes in turgor or changes in growth. Nastic movements differ from tropic movements in that the direction of tropic responses depends on the direction of the stimulus, whereas the direction of nastic movements is independent of the stimulus. The rate or frequency of these responses increases as intensity of the stimulus increases. An example of such a response is the opening and closing of flowers (photonastic response). Nastic responses are usually associated with plants. (iii) Thermonasty - It is induced by temperature. For example, the opening and closing of the flowers of tulip…
