Lanacorp Swot Analysis
Over the last few years LanaCorp’s profits have been down while IT expenditures have significantly increased. Recently, some concerns have arisen regarding the company’s expenditures. I was tasked to determine the total cost of ownership per PC. Should the total cost of ownership exceed the breaking point, a decision must be made regarding employee and budget cuts. Per our CEO, the company’s break point is $5,300. I have created a Total Cost of Ownership spreadsheet that takes into account general organization information, direct, and indirect costs to calculate the total cost of ownership per PC. This calculator will provide a more accurate cost analysis. It has been set up in such a way that any data changes will automatically update the …show more content…
We considered hardware and software cost, management and staff salaries, other expenses, development cost, communication cost, annual cost of end user activity, and cost of downtime. The hardware and software direct costs included expenses, annual computer supplies, minus the annual depreciation on hardware and software capital purchases. This amounted to a total of $761,325. Management and staff salaries plus 30% of overhead that accounted for salary increases was also taken into consideration, which amounted to $1,122,177. Other expenses included traveling costs, consulting and professional service fees related to infrastructure, training costs for infrastructure personnel, maintenance contracts, and outsourcing costs which totaled to $227,500. Development costs, which consisted of the design, development, testing, documentation, maintenance for existing applications, and consulting and professional services, added up to $287,500. Communication costs included leased lines, remote access communications, and annual WAN costs and equaled to $434,000. After adding all of these costs, total direct costs came out to $2,832,502. Indirect costs included end user activity and downtime. Total indirect costs amounted to $1,725,394. By dividing the total annual infrastructure costs by the total number of personal computers, we concluded that the total cost of ownership per PC is …show more content…
LanaCorp spends a total of $1,369,187 a year on end user IT activity. About 62% of that cost goes directly to PC user training. Rather than train everyone, we can reduce training cost by only training those who absolutely need it. Another option is to incorporate e-training where the staff can go at their own pace. This will streamline the training process, reduce training costs, any additional costs associated with setting up training sessions, and possibly travel

The organization that I have chosen to do my SWOT analysis on is the New Orleans Saints football team. They are among the most successful teams of this decade but not ranked very high as far as most lucrative organizations in the National Football League. They are currently ranked 23rd among the 30 active teams in the national football league. The organization was formed and became a professional football team in 1967. The team got its nickname due to its founding being on All Saints Day on November 1, 1967. The team initially one of the weaker franchises in the league. It didn’t win many games and struggled to sell out games. They have won one Super Bowl title, 5 Division Championships, and made only 9 playoff appearances in its 46 year existence. The ultimate goal of this organization is to win football games and generate revenue by selling tickets and merchandise.…

Although ADP (Automatic Data Processing) is one of the leading providers of business outsourcing solutions, it has weaknesses that negatively affect the company. One significant aspect of ADP is that the company has clients in many foreign countries, but less than only 20% of ADP’s revenues come from other regions of the world. The company has been majorly focusing on customers’ needs here in the US, keeping their clients up to date with the current laws and regulations (their HR department) and making payroll processing convenient. What they lack, though, is a diversified geographic. It’s important to concentrate on the US operations, but other countries have specific issues that may need to be handled differently. If ADP wants to expand and take full advantage of their services, they ought to pay more attention to their geographic diversification.…

SWOT analysis is a basic, straightforward model that provides direction and serves as a basis for the development of marketing plans. It accomplishes this by assessing an organizations strengths (what an organization can do) and weaknesses (what an organization cannot do) in addition to opportunities (potential favorable conditions for an organization) and threats (potential unfavorable conditions for an organization). SWOT analysis is an important step in planning and its value is often underestimated despite the simplicity in creation. The role of SWOT analysis is to take the information from the environmental analysis and separate it into internal issues (strengths and weaknesses) and external issues (opportunities and threats). Once this is completed, SWOT analysis determines if the information indicates something that will assist the firm in accomplishing its objectives (a strength or opportunity), or if it indicates an obstacle that must be overcome or minimized to achieve desired results (weakness or threat) (Marketing Strategy, 1998).…
