Lady Of Knock Prayer Analysis
Mary is a model of holiness because she is the mother of Jesus and she was born without original sin. Since Mary is honored above all saints, we pray through her intercession using many different prayers and devotions such as Help Me Say Yes and Hail Holy Queen. Another way the Catholic Church reveres Mary is by giving her different titles, an example being, Refuge of Sinners. Finally, Mary has had many apparitions including Our Lady of Knock. Mary is a very holy figure in the Catholic Church because we pray through her intercession, we honor her with different titles, and she has made appearances to those on Earth to spread the message of Jesus throughout the world.
As we discussed in class, there are many devotion prayers to Mary. On page 94, I found the prayer, Help Me Say Yes. This prayer was my favorite prayer for many different reasons. First, I like that this prayer referenced the Annunciation. When Mary was asked to be the Mother of

One of these appearances is named Our Lady of Knock which happened on August 21, 1879. This apparition included Mary, Saint Joseph, Saint John the Evangelist, and a Lamb and cross on an altar which occurred in Knock, Ireland and was witnessed by fifteen people. For two hours, these fifteen people watched the apparition while standing in the rain and saying the rosary. Even though they stood in the pouring rain, they were completely dry when the apparition disappeared. These appearances show that Mary is the mother of God and should be honored. Since Mary is the Mother of God, we honor her with prayer devotions, various titles, and shrines dedicated to her miraculous apparitions. My favorite prayers, title, and apparition include Help Me Say Yes, Hail Holy Queen, Refuge of Sinners and Our Lady of Knock. Since Mary helps us and protects us which is shown in theses prayers, titles, and apparitions, I feel blessed to have someone like Mary to watch over

Believed to be standing next to Mary is Archangel Gabriel who delivers the message to Mary that she would bear the child of god. While it is believed to be him, it’s peculiar because the archangel is represented as a woman who in fact looks very similar to Mary with long wavy red hair flowing down with a widow’s peak. The archangel is shown looking at Mary while also pointing to her and holding a golden staff. Painted gold in Latin are the words “The lord is with you.” “I am the maid of the lord” is also etched into Mary’s cloak. They are both shown standing inside a house in the countryside with the door open.…

Our Lady of La Vang, also known as Đức Mẹ La Vang in Vietnamese, is a Marian apparition. In 1798, when Vietnamese Christians were persecuted for their faith, many of those Christians hid in a jungle in La Vang. While they were taking refuge in the jungle, they would often pray and say the rosary. However, many people became ill because of the conditions in the jungle. One day, a lady dressed in an áo dài, a traditional Vietnamese dress, carried a child in her arms with two angels beside her and appeared to the Christians. The lady told them to boil leaves from the jungle to use as medicine to cure the people who were ill. She also told them that if people came to this spot to pray, their prayers will be heard and answered. Therefore, the people…

The legend of the supposed sighting of the Virgin Mary by Juan Diego, from Britannica Biographies, starts of that his first vision of The Virgin Mary was on December 9, 1531. When he was visited, he was on Tepeyac Hill, which lies outside of Mexico City. In Náhuatl, the native language of Aztecs, asking him to build a shrine on the hill. Juan went to tell the Bishop about the incident but the Bishop did not believe his story and wanted proof. On December 12, Juan was visited by the Virgin Mary again and told Juan to collect roses and bring them to the Bishop as proof also she told him his uncle will recover from his sickness. After gathering roses, even while it was winter and not a suitable environment for roses, he brought them to the Bishop. As dozens of roses fell out of his cloak an image of the Virgin Mary was imprinted and visible on the inside of his cloak. Once the Bishop saw the proof he ordered that a church be built on Tepeyac Hill. (Encyclopedia, Britannica)…

She often compares herself to people in the Bible. When she was younger she had trouble with spiritual accounts. For this she brings up 2 Corinthian 12. 9. This scripture tells that God's grace is enough for her. Then later she brings up Job 1. 15 that says “And I only am escaped alone to tell the News(221).” This scripture is significant to Mary because she feels as though she was alive because she was chosen to tell of the events that occurred during King Philip's War.…

The final miracle performed by Mary Dempster is when she appeared to me in Passchendale during the time of the war. I was trapped behind enemy lines, and I was injured and could no longer move. There was a fireball coming at me, and I was sure that I was going to die. Before I became unconscious, the last thing that I saw was the face of Mary Dempster on the Madonna figure. Months later, I awoke in a care facility, and I was alive. I truly believe that it was mary Dempster who had saved me.…

Blessed Mary Mackillop is one of Australia’s most remarkable and inspiring women. The power of her inspiration is clearly visible as demonstrated by the large crowds who flock to visit her tomb in North Sydney. Most visitors come because they seek Mary’s intercession as they believe she will ask for God’s assistance on their behalf. People come to the chapel and find the peace & spiritual strength to deal with life’s difficulties. Others long for the kind of love Mary showed due to her forgiving nature towards those who treated her so unjustly. It was clearly evident that people recognised that she was a holy person and from that time onwards, the faithful has never ceased to regard her as a saint. Therefore, her official declaration as a saint influenced others to believe in her as the first Australian saint. The Sisters are inspired by the devotion and pure love that Mary demonstrated her commitment to improving the lives of those less fortunate such as building providences for the poor in South Australia . Mary’s beatification involved a process that included an examination of her writings, stories, and testimony concerning her reputation for holiness. After this act, permission was given to formally introduce the cause for beatification in May 1973, whereby she received the title ‘Servant of God’. After the examination of 2 Decrees in 1993 and 1992, Mary now had the title ‘ Venerable’. The recommendation was made to the Holy Father who then decided her beatification in Sydney on January 19, 1995. In April 2008, the documents pertaining to a remarkable cure of a woman with inoperable cancer were delivered under seal to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. After close scrutiny of this case and examination by the Medical Board and theologians, the cardinals and bishops recommended to Pope Benedict XVI that this was a miracle. He approved on December 19, 2009, and Mary’s canonisation occurred…

On 18 July, 1830, Mary appeared to Catherine Labouré. Twenty-four year old Catherine was a novice sister who saw Mary late at night in a chapel in the convent Rue du Bac, Paris. She was escorted to the chapel by someone she later found out to be her guardian angel. She then saw Mary descend down the altar steps and sit on the spiritual director's chair. Mary told Catherine that she had a mission for her and warned her of bad times that were to come.…

As Mary becomes more and more isolated from the comfort of home and civilization, becomes separated from her other children, and watches her sick child die, she is forced to adapt to her captivity, adapt to the demands of the journey, and adapt to the culture of the Indians. Only her will to survive prevents her from committing suicide. Mary thanks God for "preserving me in the use of my reason and senses in that distressed time that I did not use wicked and violent means to end my own miserable life" (240).…

Why is Mary so important for just having a baby? There are many powerful women in the Bible. A powerful women is one who makes a difference and changes lives. The most powerful woman in the Bible is Mary. The Catechism states, “she be wholly borne by God’s grace” (“Catechism of the Catholic Church” 490). Learning about Mary allows people to understand Jesus more and shows how much courage and strength she has. Mary is so important that God sent other biblical women ahead of her to prepare the way. She also played a major role in our salvation. God specifically called on Mary because she was “full of grace” and because she was free from sin. Mary gave up everything to obey God and to follow his will which led to her being the most important woman in history. Because of this she saved humanity by following God's will ("Catechism of the Catholic…
