“Of all Shakespeare's female characters Lady Macbeth stands out far beyond the rest — remarkable for her ambition, strength of will, cruelty, and dissimulation” (Traits of Lady). Lady Macbeth is usually viewed as an interesting character because of her notable traits. Her cruelty, cunning, and manipulation certainly contribute to one’s fascination with her. However, equally intriguing are Lady Macbeth’s notorious views she possesses. The unyielding views Lady Macbeth holds on manhood, womanhood, and guilt greatly affect her life.…
Where is he? He is never late! It couldn't of taken him this long. He has left me here, impatiently striding up and down this ridiculously tiny room. He's done this on purpose, leaving me anxious, worried, but at the same time a little bit excited. Me, Lady Macbeth, I have managed to wrap a man around my little finger. A woman? I know this is wrong but the devilish feeling has climbed into my stomach, like your nervous, but excited. Almost as though your about to put on a performance, but in reality, this is much worse.…
There are many factors that can drive a person to commit a heinous crime, jealousy and fear being the two biggest factors that apply. Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Macbeth depicts a murderous villain whose body count is on the rise due to Macbeth’s dissatisfaction with his place in life. Banquo’s murder reeks of jealousy and of Macbeth’s quest to secure the crown for himself. The witches instill doubts into Macbeth’s mind luring him into killing his best friend just because he felt threatened by his best friend’s kingly qualities. With the killing of Banquo, Macbeth loses all his conscience and becomes an assassin that turns killing into a game. Macbeth’s killing spree can only stop once he has been vanquished. Macbeth will never be able to…
From the beginning Lady Macbeth is viewed as very controlling, strong, and certain. “First, she has very little regard for her husband's humanity and actually derides him for being "too full o'th' milk of human kindness” (Thompson 1). This shows how cold Lady Macbeth is, as milk is the food of new born children, she is implying Macbeth is too much like a kind child to murder anyone. Once Macbeth has the courage to tell her he does not want to continue with the murder she rallies, calling him a ‘coward’, saying that if he could murder Duncan ‘he were a man’. This to Macbeth, a proud and mighty warrior is a deep insult, and he soon is convinced that he will carry out the murder.…

King James VI, king of Scotland, ascended to the throne of England after the death of Queen Elizabeth I. This act united Scotland and England under one rule. While King James was alive, He was interested in the world of witchcraft and wrote a book about the subject called Daemonologie. In Macbeth Shakespeare uses Macbeth and his misunderstanding of the fates as a representation of King James and his misconception of witches and their true nature.…
Rhetoric is defined as the art of the using persuasive writing. In Act 1 Scene 7 , both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth use rhetoric to determine whether or not they should kill King Duncan. Theme 1-apearances can be deceiving: the witches appears to be nice by telling them truths and good prophecies, but as Macbeth act upon those prophecies, he will destroy himself.…
Shakespeare uses vivid and powerful forms of imagery to let the audience visualize the setting. Lady Macbeth is portrayed as a strong woman who is attracted to power and would do anything to be in control; she is anything but an elegant and sensitive woman. After the bloodshed begins, however, Lady Macbeth falls an easy prey to insanity and guilt. Her soliloquy (5.1.24-30) shows her decline into madness when she says,“out damned spot...”…
only because she perceives that her society equates feminine qualities with weakness. In this quote Lady Macbeth gives a vivid image of being stripped of her femininity in order to achieve masculine qualities. She is asking for the spirits to take away her compassion and fear so no forces of goodness invade her conscience to stop her from proceeding to murder Duncan. Although she is very loyal, she rejects her subordinate role as wife to Macbeth. Lady Macbeth challenges her husband’s manhood by being more aggressive than he is, taunting him, and suggesting, “When you durst do it, then you were a man” (Macbeth 1.7.55). Where Lady Macbeth rejects femininity and openly taunts in her relationship with Macbeth, Bianca manipulates men in a whole different way.…
In 1.5. 36-53 of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth delivers a sullen soliloquy which expresses her ambitious yet murderous thoughts, invoking dark spirits to, first, change and destroy her feminine nature, second, to let her feel no fear or guilt upon doing wicked acts such as murder, and then, third, to cover all of her vile and vicious crimes. By doing so, Lady Macbeth vividly reveals to the audience her dark, destructive, and true nature.…
William Shakespeare's Macbeth is a tragic play. Gradually throughout the play's sequence, Macbeth's actions become increasingly more wicked and evil. The real focus is how and why Macbeth changed so drastically. The three witches predictions or prophesies had a traumatic effect on him that slowly began his steep downfall.…
Having a lust for power can cause a loss in many things. It’s as if you’re in a win-lose situation. In this case, the play Macbeth written by Shakespeare has scholars sayings, “The lust for power by Macbeth and Lady Macbeth led to a loss of humanity.” With that said, I totally agree with their view. Both Lady Macbeth and Macbeth went out of their way to even killing King Duncan and burdening the murder on his guardsmen. Even though that’s a common human act, you just don’t do something like that. It’s just so wrong. The acts of both these people are very evil and violent, in which causes Macbeth to move from one act of endangerment to another just to protect himself from a great disaster which I likely consider his death to be it. Lady Macbeth is like a tag along buddy. She is like a huge helping hand to Macbeth and ends up dying on her way to the top with him. Both of their desires for high royalty led themselves to death. So, as said lusting for power is very harmful to oneself unless done in a proper way; meaning without anyone getting hurt.…
