William Shakespeare was born April 23, 1564 in a town in London. Shakespeare attended the Stratford grammar school as a kid. Shakespeare did not continue his education into a university. At 18 years of age, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway and had 3 kids. William Shakespeare was a poet, playwright, and actor. He wrote some of the most famous plays in history such as, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. In Macbeth, Shakespeare portrays women as weak in the fact that in order to be powerful, they must go against their nature and act as male-figures. Lady Macbeth feels she will gain greater power by going against her womanly nature and by turning into a male figure while plotting the murder of King Duncan. After hearing the news that Macbeth is made out to be the new king, she instantly calls upon the murderous spirits saying, “Come, you spirits That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full Of direst cruelty.
