Is it right to use child labour?

KANAL PATEL (300754583) DATE: 03 Feb. 14

1. What is the problem? A case synopsis

= The problem in this case is the child labour and its impact to the society.

2. Should Canada develop regulations governing the use of child labour in foreign countries by Canadian companies?

= I think that the Canada might not be able to develop some set of regulation against the child labour issue because it does not have that authority to do so in other countries, but if it is in the authority of Canada to so by going in other country, I think it should do it.

3. You are the manager of a company considering setting up a factory in a foreign country that allows child labour. What would be the benefits to your company for deciding not to use child labour?

= If the company does not use child labour, its productivity would rise and require lesser supervision. Also it would be remarked and known as the company that does not use child labour apparently giving a right impression.

4. You are the manager of a company considering setting up a factory in a foreign country that allows child labour. Should you simply rely on the laws of that country when deciding what to do about child labour? Why, or why not?

= I think that I should not only rely to the laws of the country where I am going to setup a company but also consider the laws of the native country i.e. Canada. I should consider the laws of the country where the company belongs to because that country mainly regulates the policies of the company and regulates its rights, authorities, guidelines and penalty

Compared to other countries, Canada has a better track record when it comes to following the Children's Bill of Rights. In this essay, I will attempt to prove that children born, raised, and living in Canada are treated with more respect and humanity than other cultures across the world. A lot of people, especially in Canada, are not very familiar with issues regarding child labour and slavery, simply because these things are either non-existent, or a closely guarded secret here in Canada. A prime reason for this is because Canada is a place where freedom and equality thrive among society, and children are protected from occupation exertion and unfair wages for time worked.…

Child labour is often seen only to occur in third world countries but this is not the case. Child labour occurs all over the world and the brutality and cruelty of this work varies. Although child labour is seen as a bad thing, for the children and families living in their poor conditions, child labour is seen as necessary for the family to live as it is an essential income. UNICEF estimates that around 150 million children aged 5-14 in developing countries, about 16 per cent of all children in this age group, are involved in child labour. Therefore child labour is still a big problem in our world today especially as some children are forced to work in dangerous, unhygienic, life threatening conditions. Not only does is it harmful to their physical body it also effects their education as some children drop out of education to work. Even though many organisations and charities attempt to stop child labour or at least make the conditions suitable for children, child labour is still seen as a big problem in the 20th century.…
