As human beings, it is only natural we make mistakes. With that in mind, these mistakes can be immense or minor. When an individual is well known, their mistakes can be widely publicized. Typically scandals occur when celebrities make huge mistakes that they regret. According to the Cambridge English Dictionary website, a scandal is “an action or event that is considered immoral, causing the public to react with shock or anger.” This was the case when Kurt Cobain’s death was ruled a suicide. Numerous fans felt his passing was not justified and blamed Cobain’s wife, police, and media for how the death was shamefully handled. As stated by an article, Kurt Cobain Conspiracy (2004), Courtney Love hires a private investigator, Tom Grant, to find her husband and several days after Grant is hired, Cobain’s body is discovered (para. 7). Cobain was found with 1.52 mg od heroine in his system and died from a gunshot wound to the head (para. 14). Despite the death being ruled a suicide, fans felt uneasy about Courtney Love and felt she was responsible. According to an article called Summary of Events (Grant, n.d.), even Courtney Love’s own personal investigator felt she was suspicious and felt Cobain was murdered (para. 159). Grant (n.d.) also claims that Love’s motive would be getting more money from his death rather than a divorce, given how awful their marriage was (para. 137). In …show more content…
The article Kurt Cobain Conspiracy Theory (2004) states, “The shotgun wasn’t thoroughly examined until a month after the death, No fingerprints were found on it” (para. 19). This article also states that experts believe “the gunshot wound to Cobain's head wasn't consistent with other suicide victims' self-inflicted wounds, indicating a second party pulled the trigger” (para. 16). In addition to this information the Summary of Events (Grant, n.d.), discloses that Kurt Cobain’s credit card was still active after his death (para 131). This suggests someone could have taken the card out of his wallet after he died. The Seattle Police never did anything with this
