Kudos In Caught Inside
Home turf is a term many sportspeople use. Home turf is an area an athlete has become most comfortable with, usually the area they have trained in for a majority of their career. Calling an area “home turf” is another way of claiming land. Being an experienced athlete at a sport, gets them to believe they have kudos to be able to dictate others, have themselves on a pedestal and become over protective over what they think is theirs, but it isn’t fair to anyone else and are solutions to share the vast ocean and its attributes.

Locals try to keep their home turf away from tourists and the limelight. Popularity and amateurs littering the waters deters locals away from their “solitary Eden”. The creation of a single item is the main source of this increase of popularity. The wetsuit, created by Jack O’Neill permitted “old ladies, small children and wimpy Buddhists onto the waves” when, previously, only passionate surfers would go out to bear the chilly Santa Cruz waters. Because inventions can’t be uninvented, one option is available for surfers and that is to just tolerate people joining the surfing bandwagon. Yogis calls ardent surfers “polar bear club surfers” from “hippie town”. Wetsuits also influenced an increase of new enthusiastic surfers changed the town of Santa Cruz as a whole and the community “seems to have more surf shops than gas stations”, thus attracting more tourists and angering locals.
