Kowhaiball Analysis
Hazel, you were really interested in having a turn at putting pōro/balls down the plastic tubes. There were lots of other tamariki who wanted to have a turn at this activity too. Because there were so many eager participants, we made two lines at each set of tubes and you joined the line to the right of the sandpit. Hazel, you did a really good job of waiting for your turn at the tubes. You waited so patiently with your pōro ready to put it down the tube. When it was your turn to put your kōwhai ball down the tube you placed it in and then watched it eagerly has it rolled out the end. You enjoyed placing your pōro down the tube over and over again. So to extend on this I gave you another ball. It was kikorangi and smaller and I said to you “I wonder which pōro will go faster down the tube?” First you placed the kōwhai ball down the tube and we counted to see how long it took to come out. Then you placed the kikorangi pōro down the tube and we counted again. Both balls were fast, but we ascertained that …show more content…
You chose to use the kikorangi pōro and gave the kōwhai ball to Autumn. I explained to you that when I said tahi, rua you needed to let your pōro run down the tube. You both put the balls down the tube simultaneously and once again it was the kikorangi pōro that shot out the bottom first. We now knew for sure that the kikorangi ball was faster than the kōwhai.

Learning Taking Place: Hazel, throughout this learning experience you were exploring the math concepts of one to one counting, learning to predict the outcomes of experiments, and you were comparing the speed of the balls. Te Whāriki, the Early Childhood Curriculum, states that children should have opportunities to predict, estimate, and make comparisons,” this is what you were doing at Jump Start on this occasion by trying to find out which pōro was the fastest down the tube.

This experiment was to use kinetics of projectile motion and free falling bodies to determine the distance a ball will travel after it hits a bounce plate. To determine this we had to use the equations x=(1/2)at2 and v=v0+at and derive an equation that will determine the distance the ball will travel based on the height of the bounce plate and the height of where the ball will be dropped above the bounce plate. The equation made was g*(sqrt(2)/sqrt(g))*(sqrt(H)*sqrt(h)). From here we can make an estimate of how far the ball will travel after it hits the bounce plate.…

Chapter fourteen was mainly about sports announcing. This chapter was placed in the book to help the production crew know what the talent will be doing. The talent must know their role and know what the director and producer are expecting of them. The play-by-play can call a sporting event with the action and the color commentator made the commentating better by adding important facts. Research is something the talent is responsible for so that they are familiar with the event. Sportscaster figure out ways to compliment one another. Commentating normally is where the play-by-play person talks and determines when the color announcer will speak. Interviews are important and an essential part of a production. One blistering summers’ day in Northwest Florida, home for college, Jay was cleaning out the garage. This was apart of his mother’s summer clean sweep project, which she did every year. Jay comes from a family who is very involved in sports. So as he was singing the childhood clean up and going through and sorting the football pads, softballs, baseball, batting and fielding gloves, sweet bands, and other athletic equipment and sports wear he came across a recognizable object. It was his old bat. The Bat he used in little league almost 10 years ago. This was the first bat that Jay ever had. As Jay held the dusty, paint chipped, dry-rotting but yet still majestic bat in his hands, fond memories of the typical day at the ballpark began to flood his mind.…

Think about different materials that are used to make sports balls. Why don’t we use just one type of material for tennis balls, baseballs, and golf balls? Since each ball must behave differently in play, the material making up each one must be different, too. In this experiment, you will characterize how different materials behave when they are dropped.…

As the ball is rolling, it will hit and push another pink ball. The second pink ball will roll down into a small skinny tube. When it falls, it will push up the other side of the lever. When it goes up, it will make the string loose and make the scissor cut the string. When it cuts the string, the weight will fall and break. When it breaks the water inside of it will go through the tube, pouring inside the bucket. I watched “The Wiz” last week at school in my Theatre class. Dorothy was having some problems with her Aunt, and got whirled away in a tornado to a magical land called Oz. To get home, she had to go talk to the Wiz, but along the way she had some friends to help her get there. Before she gets to go home she has to fight the Wicked Witch of the West with the help of her friends. In my opinion the play was decent it wasn’t all that good, but it was okay.…

Again I started with Nigel and we spent a little time to make sure the balls were the same size. When we finally agreed that the balls were the same Nigel watched as I rolled one into a snake which was very exciting for him because that's his favorite animal and he really wanted to play with it but I had to tell him not to touch it until after I asked my question. I then asked Nigel is there more playdough in the snake and pointed to the snake playdough, is there more playdough in the ball pointed to the ball, or do the snake and the ball have the same amount of playdough. Nigel first looked at both for about a second before telling me the snake was bigger. I then asked him why and he then sat up on his knees on his seat and leaned over and he and put one hand at the beginning of the snake and one hand at the end to measure and then moved them to the ball which took up less space length wise and said that the snake is longer and that it is an anaconda because they're really big…
