Kobe Bryant Leadership Style
When people talk about the best basketball player of our era, usually players such as Kobe Bryant and LeBron James lie somewhere amongst that list. Both players were drafted out of high school in the first round and at a young age showing that they both are going to be remembered forever as some of the greatest players to ever play.
The ultimate trait in all sports is leadership; between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, it's difficult to say who is the leader of their team, whereas they both exist as the core to the team they play on. LeBron James is currently a part of the Cleveland Cavaliers averaged 25.3 points with superstars Kyrie Irving (#2 ranked PG in the NBA, Averaging 21.7 points) and Kevin Love (Averaged 16.4 points) accompanying him. Kobe Bryant plays for the Los Angeles Lakers on the other hand, has Roy Hibbert and young talent such as Julius Randle and D'Angelo Russell. The difference between each team is the Cavaliers have 3 NBA Veteran superstars compared to the Lakers, who have Kobe Bryant (Averaged 22.3 points) and Roy Hibbert (10.6 points) as their …show more content…
Kobe's attitude and drive for the game have helped him achieve the titles he has but now is reaching the end of his career and enduring injury in previous season's missing multiple games. LeBron is on the rise of being one of the greatest players of all time because of the potential his current team has to win championships and own potential to dominate the league with his high season averages. LeBron quote himself "the best player in the world" but when Kobe Bryant was in his prime, he was considered the greatest player of his time, and as of now, is slowing down on his career averages. Kevin Durant played college basketball for one year at the University of Texas at Austin, and he is four years younger than LeBron James. Therefore, his point total is lower than LeBron James’s. Kevin Durant’s point total is only 20,222 points. Although it seems like Kevin Durant is far behind LeBron James in total points, he is really not. In fact, LeBron James had only 2,948 more points than Kevin Durant at the same age. Therefore, in the same season and at the same age, LeBron James had 23,170 points compared to Kevin Durant and his 20,222 points. Despite Kevin Durant being approximately 10,000 points behind LeBron James, he has been the NBA’s scoring champion a remarkable four times.Yet for LeBron James, he has only been the NBA’s scoring champion once.     LeBron James or Michael Jordan the greatest basketball player of all time? That is the question that is constantly being thrown around in the media and in turn, to all of us here at home. For me the answer is quite simple, and I will tell you why. Jordan (MJ) is “the best,” nd LeBron is the second best, or is he? MJ won six rings and LeBron James won just one. Does that make MJ better or not? MJ played in the Bulls and LeBron played with Calves, then moved to the Heat. I like MJ because he was so good and never really showed off, he was selfless. I don’t like LeBron because he shows off too much and plays dirty. MJ was a team player and LeBron is ball hog. I know the NBA is way different now, considering that a lot of the NBA players are stronger. Well this evaluation can determent by the championships, skill, popularity, who had the better team. Maybe you can say MJ is better in the 4th quarter than LeBron or other way around. Other differences between MJ and LeBron could be that, Jordan had three seasons of playing college basketball with great players and a great coach. MJ won an NCAA championship and would then later learn how to lose in the same NCAA tournament. He understood how to win with great players and how to play with role players and make them better. Because of this, LeBron will never have the leadership ability of MJ. LeBron could not teach his teammates in Cleveland how to be better and to be a champion, he had never been there. But you can say that does not really matter because skill matters more than leadership. But does that really matter? So what’s more important “How their stats looked in their first year winning a championship” or “How they perform?”…
