King Hamlet Monologue Essay
The sound of the grandfather clock coincides with fast beats of my jealous heart, as I picture a life without my dearest brother, King Hamlet. I have not yet thought of a more enjoyable life than that of my brother. As he walks into a room, everyone’s mouths drop in awe as his jewelry and crown glisten as the sun does on a summer day. His demeanor earns respect and loyalty from all his citizens and colleagues. But what I am most envious of, is his wife, Queen Gertrude. She possesses angelic beauty with her blonde braids and crystal, blue eyes. This jealousy led to my realization that I can too live a life of King Hamlet if I just ended his life. Chills run down my spine as I begin to plan this genius, yet secret murder. I grin as the details …show more content…
He was wearing a white, full-faced mask that was adorned with luminous jewels, which moved slightly every time he spoke. I greeted my brother by shaking his firm yet smooth hand. His eyes so innocent looked upon me, unaware what were soon to happen. I thought to myself, “How I am suppose to retrieve his mask?” However, King Hamlet had to say a speech, in which he needed to take off his mask to speak. I smirked, as I volunteered to hold the mask as he gave his traditional speech. All eyes were focused on King Hamlet, so I was able to easily apply the poison in the mask unnoticed. I starred at the mask, imagining my new life that I was about to encounter. After Hamlet finished his inspirational speech to his precious citizens, I gave the mask back and watched in anticipation as he placed the poisonous mask on his face. Thereafter, the king accompanied by Queen Gertrude approached the center of the dance floor to begin the traditional mascaraed dance. The crowd surrounded the royal couple, and all their eyes were fixated on them as they glided across the dance floor. As King Hamlet took his final bow, he collapsed on the floor clutching his chest. Gertrude shrieked in fear and kneeled next to her lifeless husband. Her beautiful eyes filled with tears as she realized that she just witnessed the love of her life’s last breath.     William Shakespeare, one of the most well known authors of literature, wrote the tragic play called Hamlet. In the play Hamlet, Hamlet tries to seek revenge on his father’s murderer committed by his uncle and now King, Claudius. Old Hamlet’s ghost instructs Hamlet to seek revenge on Claudius. This further angers Hamlet who is already distraught at the fact that his mother has married Claudius. The pressure causes Hamlet to go crazy and not be able to think straight. King Claudius and the Queen send multiple spies in order to see if Hamlet is really crazy. Hamlet causes Claudius to feel guilty when Hamlet makes a play that resembles the murder of Old Hamlet. Gertrude was concerned about Hamlet’s health and during the toast accidently drinks the poisoned wine that was part of Claudius plan to kill Hamlet. As a result of the fencing match Hamlet is injured from the poisoned the tip of Laertes’ sword. Before Hamlet dies he makes Claudius drink the poisoned wine to get revenge for his father’s death. The topic of my annotated bibliography is the theatres and the audiences during the Shakespearean era.
