King Arthur A Terrible Leader Essay
King Arthur is a terrible leader. King Arthur from King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green is hardly a terrible leader because he is brave, powerful and just.
King Arthur is a brave leader. “But Arthur sprang to his feet, drawing his sword and shouting defiance at Pellinore, who thereupon came down from his horse and drew his own sword. … ‘There are two ways with that,’ cried Arthur, mad with shame and fury. ‘Death is welcome when it comes; but to yield - never!’ ”(p. 16). In this quote Arthur is battling with Pellinore and he is saying that he will die when his time comes but he will never yield and this takes bravery.

In the book, King Arthur is like a Godly figure. He is portrayed as the best king in the world, who everyone knows and respects. In the book he and the Knights of the Round Table in the book are considered the best of the best. For example, we can see that when King Arthur pulls out the sword from the stone that no one could to get, everyone views King Arthur as a God. However, in contrast, the movie shows that King Arthur does not get as much respect as he should have. For example, when King Arthur passes by Dennis the peasant, the peasant talks to him in a very rude manner. When King Arthur orders him to be quiet, the peasant doesn’t listen; he just keeps on saying bad things about him. Also, the knights in this movie show us that they are not very bright. For example, when they try to go in the French castle they use the “Trojan Horse” plan by building a wooden rabbit. However, they forget to hide some of the knights in the wooden rabbit first before they send it into the castle. According to Malory, all of the knights should be brave, but in this movie we can see that Sir Robin, one of the Knights of the Round Table, is a coward because he runs away from a…

    4. How does the poet describe King Arthur? Does he remind you of anyone you know or have known? The poet describes King Arthur as “Britain’s Greatest Leader, The Legendary King Arthur. The poet says in the text “And when this Britain was founded by this great hero, bold men loving strife bred therein, and may a time they wrought destruction. More strange things have happened in this land since these days than in any other that I know, but of all the British kings that built here, Arthur was ever the most courteous , as I have heard tell. “The poet is describing what an incredible king, Arthur is and what a remarkable leader is. King Arthur actually reminds me of Theseus from our last story “The Knights Tale “because they both are kind of similar. They are similar in the way that King Arthur is a legendary British Leader and Theseus was an iconic hero they both are highly powerful and everybody thinks of them as a great leader and both of them are Kings, Arthur of Britain and Theseus of Thebes.…

King Arthur is a fictional character based off of an actual king in the fifth century. The tales were originally coined by the author Nennius, although, as years progressed it was discovered to be the craftsmanship of several authors. The several different writers each contributed to many different versions of the same story, much of the key elements remain the same. King Arthur was a Christian figurehead. He was the epitome of grace, modesty, and faith; just a few virtues that are heavily endeared by the Christian faith. In Le Morte d’Arthur, written by Sir Thomas Malory,Arthur says, “I may not so, for I have promised to do the battle to the uttermost by the faith of my body, while me lasteth the life, and therefore I had liefer to die with honour than to live with…

In some depictions of the British warrior, known as King Arthur, he was a brilliant military strategist. One piece of evidence that points to this is the Saxon invasion of Britain during the 5th to 6th century, as the British forces were led by an unnamed military mind (“King Arthur”). This evidence gives a historical invasion that led to one depiction of an Arthur. The next piece of evidence is that Britain prevailed in the Saxon invasion under the leadership of a warrior that excelled in military strategy. This is interesting information that can be perceived as one of Arthur’s first steps to saving Britain. The final example to note is that it is believed that Arthur’s affiliation is Roman (“King Arthur”). This information is exceptional because there might be religious reasons why Arthur is depicted as this great warrior. With that said, knowing Arthur’s possible affiliation allows a person to connect him with the military mind that led the British forces as that leader was affiliated with the Roman.…

As he celebrated the first anniversary of his reign, Arthur wanted to befriend the six kings in the west by sending messengers with gifts to greet them. Though these kings were bitter at first, it is stated in The Tale of King Arthur that, “they all agreed to parley with Arthur, and pledged themselves to his safety” (Malory 27). In Arthur’s effort to provide peace he used largesse to help keep people satisfied. Part of Arthur’s strength to lure others to trust him was relied in the prophecy Merlin who stood by Arthur and helped him become the legend he is. Arthur was also very forgiving of others. He had imprisoned Sir Balin for killing one of his cousins while jousting but when he had withdrawn the sword from the scabbard presented by the noblewoman; he represented that Arthur’s knights are of the best. As Malory writes:…

This quote was once said by a historical figure in American society named John Quincy Adams. To be a leader, you need to prove you can be one and what better way than to have people back you up and follow you. Alexander the Great is a prime example of this leadership. He went to great lengths to change the Hellenistic world. From raising a country in to a dominant empire, Alexander ranks must supreme with his accomplishments. Although he has many accomplishments, some of his actions ended in failure and may cause his legacy to be debated. A good leader knows when to fight but also when to relinquish.…
