I examine how rising or falling tide can affect the water level of Corte Madera Salt Marsh in this report. The data is from Wednesday (June 19th) and Thursday (June 20th). My hypothesis is that tide and water level have positive relationship. From the result, I learn that the water level and tide have positive relationship. However, when tide changes its direction, the water level is likely to stay or little change.…

Whale Talk is a book of many themes. Some of those themes are “Don’t Give Up”, “Independence”, “Abuse”, “Love”, “Happiness”, and “Teamwork”. “Don’t Give Up” is an example of the theme because even though TJ’s dad turns to suicide and drugs in order to cope with the accident, he still decides to take that experience to help out children in need. Aquatic and wild animals seem to be a huge contribution of our society and entertainment, but rarely we see incidents recently recalling killer whales at SeaWorld. Reading the article “After Seaworld, ‘Blackfish effect’ on circuses and zoos?” by Kelly Wallace, shows the viewpoint on the topic of the movie called “Blackfish.” The film is about Seaworld and the famous killer whale Tilikum. The history of him and his seaworld experience was introduced. He ended up killing his trainer Dawn Brancheau, and some people even blamed her for it. This is a topic that is rarely discussed in society, but it seems as if people have a misunderstanding or don't know enough about it to have an opinion. The shocking news, is that this is not the first time…
I went to the Art Museum of South Texas to take a look at the artwork they had on display there. I found that they had an exhibit called Liquid Light and it included black and white photographs of the sea and its inhabitants. In this exhibit there were works from 10 different photographers and while I loved and developed an appreciation for many of the photographs on display the one that caught my eye was the “Diving Humpback whale” by Wayne Levin (born 1945). This paper will focus on why Wayne Levin takes photographs of the underwater world and why the “Diving Humpback Whale” photograph was my favorite.…
With research and studies being conducted on both wild and captive Killer Whales, data and information has been generated that adds question to the health issues associated with captivity. “The killer whale (Orcinus orca) has proven to be among the most difficult of all species to hold adequately in zoological facilities. The killer whale is a particularly large-brained and long-lived species who evidences a high degree of social complexity in the wild.” (Noonan) Their behavior and relationships with other whales within the family, known as a pod, creates an immense bond between the animals. Whales that were documented inhabiting the Pacific Northwest, remain in their natal group for most, if not all, of their life. (Robeck) When in captivity,…

It is believed that 4.6 billion years ago our Earth was formed.
