The Greenbelt Movement Wangari Maathai is a smart and courageous woman she has helped her community and inspired the world in so many ways. She has helped the environment become much stronger and heathier so her people can leave better and won’t have to suffer. In my essay I’m going to talk about how she helped them and what work she did to make the environment better place to live.to make the forest more sustainably and how the governments and individuals can reduce tropical deforestation.
There are many was to we can use the forests more sustainably which means using and caring for forests in ways that meet daily needs while protecting the forests for the future. Sustainable methods are not the same everywhere. Each community needs to find what works best for them and for their forest. Making a sustainable forest management plan helps a community decide how best to use their forest. It can also help resist threats to the forest by industry or the government.
Sometimes, you can get a better price for forest products if you can show they were produced sustainably. But the most important part of a sustainable forest management plan is that it helps local people work together to use and protect forests. How to use and protect the forest at the same time is a good question here are my ideas? Tree thinning this will help by allowing the more sunlight in the forest so the plants you want can grow. Selective logging which means cutting only some trees , while saving young trees and some healthy older trees to hold soil and provide seed for the future. Planting green space in smaller areas of trees in places where most trees have been cut down, or where the forest is completely gone, is a way to improve the soil, water, and air even in populated cities and towns. Last but not least you can support natural regrowth will help the forest by limiting the use of areas where too many trees have been

This is a contradiction with what e claims several times about generations past who had systems of protecting the environment. She even demonstrates it through stories about growing up amongst lush rivers and forested areas in the forties and fifties Finally, in the face of constant adversity, it may be inevitable to take the tone of a victim, constantly attacking the mechanisms and institutions that prevent one from doing their work. Maathai falls into this trap, which diminishes her heroism and struggle. As a woman who achieved such prominence, she could have held her head up a little higher, especially in her lucid writing,to give a more powerful account of the years she spent building the Green Belt…

Which yes, we can plant more trees, but they take years to grow. But when looking at this to the point of cutting them down and using them for our personal consumer benefit it would take too long. This results in a downfall because it leads to discounting the resource of its value. Now if the U.S. Forest decides to bring the prices to their actual value more people will see the vaule of the product. As long as the U.S. Forest Service does not get greedy and make the prices unreasonable, this critique from O’Toole is a good…

    Deforestation

Forests are vital for life, home to millions of species, they protect soil from erosion, produce oxygen, store carbon dioxide, and help control climate. Forests are also vital for us to live as they provide us with food, shelter and medicines as well as many other useful things. They also purify the air we breathe and water that we need to survive. Deforestation by humans is causing all of these necessary functions to be lessened, and hence damaging the atmosphere even further. Forests play a huge role in the carbon cycle on our planet. When forests are cut down, not only does carbon absorption cease, but also the carbon stored in the trees is released into the atmosphere as CO2 if the wood is burned or even if it is left to rot after the deforestation process. Smaller crops e.g. plants and agricultural crops also draw in carbon dioxide and release oxygen, however forests store up to 100 times more carbon than agricultural fields of the same area. Deforestation is an important factor in global climate change. Climate change is because of a buildup of carbon dioxide in out atmosphere and if we carry on cutting down the main tool we have to diminish this CO2 build up, we can expect the climate of our planet to change dramatically over the next decades. It is estimated that more than 1.5 billion tons of carbon dioxide are released to the atmosphere due to deforestation, mainly the cutting and burning of forests, every year. Over 30 million acres of forests and woodlands are lost every year due to deforestation; causing a massive loss of income to poor people living in remote areas who depend on the forest to survive.…

For a long time, forests have offered a great assistance to our country in many aspects: social, economic, and ecological. People gain benefits from the forests, as forests also gain from them. Years have passed and the people became greedy. They come out to take whatever they could before someone else does; not taking into their minds whatever environmental problems may arise. The society is not aware of how the forests have been there to maintain the equilibrium in the environment for they only took into account the economic benefits they could get from it. It is known to all that most individuals have the tendency to learn the importance of an object only if they would experience a dilemma without that object. The people rarely appreciated the ecological benefits provided by the forests, so they continued to be unreasonable until they have been experiencing drastic environmental problems making them realize that the forest resources are not made to last forever.…
