Kaepernick's Fight For Equality

I think Kaepernick had a very good point as to why he didn't stand up during the national anthem. I believe that if you don't agree with something, you shouldn't support it, although you should still be respectful about the matter. He was respectful about it by not standing up instead of getting mad about the issue. He did not stand up because the national anthem stands for equality and he doesn't think he has been treated very fairly in the past because of his race. This caused the black lives matter movement to start back up again, which created even more controversy over this already controversial subject. He isn't against the military because they fight for our liberty and justice which is the reason why he didn't stand in the first place. Although I can see why someone wouldn't support what he did, I don't think he was in the wrong for standing up for what he believes in. Kaepernick claimed that this isn't the first time he didn't stand and that he's done it many times before but no one noticed. Why didn't they notice? The reason why this was such a big deal this time was because it was military day so a lot more people got offended by his actions. Megan Rapinoe, a professional soccer player, kneeled during a game on September 5th as a “nod to Kaepernick and everything he's standing for right now”. Another example is a student from Brunswick High School in Ohio who took a knee during the national anthem because he heard his teammates using the “n-word” which caused him to start getting threats at school and in his town. There has been athletes everywhere sitting or kneeling during the national anthem showing that they don't agree that America is following what the flag truly stands
