Joey Paulk had many injuries in the explosion in Afghanistan. First, injury was his nostrils were squeezed shut so he couldn’t breath out of his nose. Next, Joey’s chin disappeared which means he could have trouble chewing food or he could even not be able to support your teeth as well. After, the top of Joey’s ear was completely gone and he might have lost some of his hearing. In conclusion Joey Paulk had a lot of injuries in the Afghanistan explosion.

    An example of how bullying causes plastic surgery is the New York Daily News article, when a six year old from Utah had a procedure done because he was being bullied by classmates due to his abnormal and larger sized ears (Stumpf). In the article, the parents of the child who got the procedure on his ears to make them smaller said “he just gets down on himself and he thinks, “I’m not good enough” (Stumpf). A child should never have to feel that way. His parents decided to let their child have the procedure done because they were afraid that the extreme torment from the bullies would cause damage to their son due to his young age (Stumpf). Steven J. Pearlman, MD states “It’s harder to make friends so they become socially stunted. They are also perceived as less intelligent by peers and even some adults” (Stumpf). In this quote, Pearlman is describing the young children who have an abnormal body feature and how they end up later on in their life. He says if they have an abnormal feature and they end up getting surgery on it, there is a better chance that they won’t be made fun of for the rest of their young adulthood.
