Juveniles Should Be Tried As Adults Essay
Imagine spending the rest of your life in prison for a crime you either committed or were just in the wrong place at the wrong time . In today’s society juveniles get put into prison for life for crimes usually pertaining to adults. Therefore should they be tried as adults ? The answer that i strongly believe is yes because a crime is a crime no matter who committed it because you can’t go around just killing people and getting away with it just for being under aged. Committing a murder and it’s a federal crime and the punishment i believe have no age restrictions. Juveniles should be tried as adults because medical reasons, age regulations ,and state of living should not interfere with the punishment for the crimes they have committed. The juvenile was first to be tried with first degree murder but then because of the reasoning behind the medical state of being he was charged with second degree facing a shorter sentence.
Crimes can be committed by anyone no matter the age in which they pertain to. In
Lundstrom’s article of “Kids Are Kids Until
They Commit Crimes” he writes “That is until they fool up,until they commit crimes,and the bigger the crime the more eager we are to call them adults”.Some argue that we don’t give young adults privileges like we do for adults but when something goes wrong or they commit a crime all of a sudden they are considered adults and are tried as one. Yes it's true that adults have more privileges but a crime is a crime and no matter who makes one the punishment still should remain the same .
The environment in which a person lives to me really never has an impact on the actions that they take because the actions comes from within the mind.
