Jupiter Research Paper
Jupiter is a gas giant. This means that it has a huge atmosphere, a liquid mantle, and a liquid / solid core, with no definite boundary between the layers.
The core of Jupiter is probably composed of liquid rock, at a temperature as high as 24,000 K (43,000 °F). The core is small relative to the planet, about 20% of its radius, but it is still fifteen times heavier than the Earth.
Next comes a layer of liquid hydrogen that is under the pressure of 10,000,000 Earth atmospheres. This changes the nature of the hydrogen in such a way that it is able to conduct electricity as metal does, so it is called "metallic hydrogen." Next, the hydrogen thins out into the gaseous atmosphere which is 1000 km (620 miles) deep. It is composed mainly of hydrogen and helium with trace amounts of methane, water, ammonia, and hydrogen sulfide. Some scientists believe that there are also polysulphur compounds and phosphine which lend their colors to the clouds.
Jupiter also has a faint ring system. It is comprised of one main ring, with fuzzier "gossamer" rings farther out. The system is only a few thousand kilometers from the sharp outer edge to the inner fuzzy edge which continues to the planet's atmosphere. The picture at left was taken by the Galileo spacecraft when the sun was behind Jupiter, so the rings were backlit.
Saturn is a gas giant. It's structure is very similar to Jupiter's. The core is composed liquid rock. Next comes a layer of liquid hydrogen. It is under such high pressure that the nature of the hydrogen changes, and is able to conduct electricity like metal. This generates the planet's magnetic field.

Neptune, like its twin, Uranus, has an atmosphere composed of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ammonia. The methane creates the blue color. Neptune's internal structure is also the same as that of Uranus.
The core of Neptune is probably composed of liquid rock. Then, farther up, the liquid rock slowly gives way to an ocean, primarily containing hydrogen, helium, and water, but also ammonia and methane. This "ocean" accounts for most of Neptune's bulk. The ocean slowly thins out into the atmosphere.
This atmosphere contains much more detail than Uranus'. It has swirls of clouds and high-altitude cirrus clouds, as well as gigantic storms.
Neptune also has a faint system of rings. The rings are made of pieces of material the size of a car or truck. There is about one thousandth of the matter in Neptune's rings as in Uranus'.     Jupiter’s climate is very different to the climate on Earth, as well as the temperature that are much colder. Jupiter is a gaseous planet and so it does not have a solid surface, because of it being made out of gas it technically has no surface. Temperatures range from high to low on Jupiter because of all the types of gases and layers that they are in, such as the upper atmosphere where it is colder and increases closer to the center. At the top of Jupiter’s clouds the temperature is around -230 degrees Fahrenheit or -145 degrees Celsius. Jupiter’s temperature increases as you descend closer to the center of the planet. The temperature can increase so much to the point where atmospheric pressure is ten times greater than that on Earth and the temperature is 21 degrees Celsius which scientists call “room temperature.” This part of Jupiter is believed to possibly be able to support life, which would have to float and not need oxygen. To be exact Jupiter’s atmosphere contains 99% hydrogen and helium, the other 1% consists of methane, ammonia, water vapor, and trace elements. Under this layer of clouds which would also be the atmosphere, lie a sea of liquid hydrogen and helium that is 13,000 miles deep, and finally the core of Jupiter where the temperature is so high it is said to be hotter than the suns surface. From this came a small belief that Jupiter was a failed star because of the similarities to our sun. Some interesting facts about Jupiter weather are that it has very powerful storm systems, powerful lightning, and deadly radiation. Not unless we find a way to fight such extreme cold temperatures or live in a sort of cabin that floats and can provide oxygen, so I cannot really say we would be able to go because only in such a place can temperature be regulated and have oxygen provided for us to survive. Although we would not be able to go because of the complex weather system, some of Jupiter’s moon’s materials might be helpful…
