Ever since I was a child, I was messy with my school work and maybe even with non-school related things too. I was very unorganized and with that came grades that were not acceptable to my parents and, looking more into the future, college. My mother would beg me to start becoming more organized and neat but I would not listen to her. When I started middle school, she heard about a program called AVID that supposedly helped students become more organized, helps you take notes, and helped them look into college and the future. As soon as she realized what the program was for she immediately put me in it. I took the program for all my three years in middle school and my experience, it worked. Thanks to my mother and, of course, the program she…

To any future high school students, my biggest piece of advice would be to leave your comfort zone. Try something new, like joining a sport you always wanted to join but never thought you were good enough for or a club that you’ve never heard of, because these new experiences will help you discover what your interests are and help you in your future. While in middle school, school began and ended a half an hour after that in high school, we took yellow buses instead of Septa, and the grading system was not as strict. Now that I am in high school, I plan to earn high grades, participate in various clubs and teams, make new friends, and volunteer in our community.…

Having more work in high school is a big difference compared to Junior High. I do hate the amount of imperative work that I’m faced with now, but I am however able to finish it. Some of the work that I do is something not even related to the subject we are learning about which is deplorable. Since there are more classes in High school than Junior High, that means you would have to finish more school/homework in your classes. However, you can also be successful by doing this amount of work. The more work you do, the better you get in your learning skills and being reputable for the hard work you do. The amount of work you do also affects what you learn and do in school, which is important to be successful. Overall, you would be successful in high school by doing the extra work you get.…

The junior high school model involves meetings between teachers based on subject area. All math teachers meet, all social studies teachers meet, and so on. There is a chair who coordinates the meeting. The strength of this model is that it allows all teachers in a subject area to be on the same page. It allows for the exchange of ideas, materials, and instruction. They can also plan lessons and curriculum mapping. This can assure that all students are learning the same material and are up to date on state expectations. The shortcomings of this model is that interdisciplinary instruction may not be happening since teachers are meeting based on subject areas. The middle school model involves daily hour meetings between teams to plan and discuss…

Throughout my years of middle school, I have had much success in completing my goals and setting myself up for a successful future. By practicing organization and completing homework well and on time, I have been able to complete many things that I have put my mind to. Through doing these things, I have done well in middle school and gotten no less than a B in all my middle school classes. I also feel it is very important to listen and interact in class because if these actions are not completed, homework is a more difficult task. In my opinion doing well in school is more than just being smart because in order to gain true knowledge you have to learn what it is like to listen and pay attention in class.
