julius caesar parallels

The movie Mean Girls has many similarities to the play Julius Caesar. The greatest parallel was between Regina George and Julius Caesar. Caesar was practically the ruler of Rome at the time and many people looked up to him. He was very manipulative, meaning that he could easily convince people of something. He was also thought very highly of himself. Regina was very self-obsessed and was sort of the leader of the school. Everyone in the school looked up at her as an idol. She had a few good friends that she thought she could trust. Caesar and Regina were both like leaders and were much conceded.
One of the parallels is between Brutus from the play and Karen from the movie. Brutus was a very good friend of Caesar who went and literally stabbed him in the back, for what he thought was for the greater good of Rome. Karen was also a good friend of Regina, who is like Caesar. Regina, like Caesar, trusted Karen to always be her friend. Karen is convinced to turn her back on her after she realizes that Regina is actually very manipulative. Karen and Brutus both had to make big decisions about their friends.
Another parallel was Cassius and Cady. In the play, Cassius was against Caesar from the start. He was the starter of the conspiracy and was out to get him the whole time. He was also the one to convince Brutus to join their side. In Mean Girls, Cady moves to the school from Africa having no friends. She becomes friends with Damien and Janice who tell her all about Regina and her group of friends. When Katie becomes friends with Regina, Gretchen, and Karen, she was only doing it to get to see what they were like. But then Cady started to give Regina snack bars that made her gain weight, tricking her it was a diet bar. In the movie, Cady did not actually plan this with all the girls, but in a sense she did separately and lower key. Cassius and Cady were both the masterminds of the plans and were sneaky.
