Julius Caesar: A German Shepherd
A German shepherd nearly froze to death in Missouri because he was chained up outside in frigid temperatures.

Caesar is now in the custody of rescuers and is still struggling to walk. Severe malnutrition, muscle atrophy and chronic wasting make it impossible for him to support his own weight. Rescuers believe the dog lived his life locked outside. He was nearly frozen to death when his owner surrendered him to the KC Pet Project

His left leg is swollen, most likely from lying on it for an extended period of time because he couldn't get up.
His right hind leg may need to be amputated. Veterinarians are trying to get him healthy enough for possible surgeries.

Veterinarians say it's a miracle he survived.

Authorities hope Caesar can be adopted

My owner is dead. I am alone now, left to face the frigid temperatures alone. The trail is long ahead, I just want to go to bed, but I can’t. The struggle is real, I cannot feel my paws nor see them under the powder snow. I keep moving, looking, and searching for a place to go; a place of warmth. The man can no longer make a fire for me to keep warm, and I am a dog that is acclimated to being warm. I have got to keep moving ahead and never tire. The obstacles ahead are going to be difficult to overcome. Backing down is not an option, doing what I have to do to survive is what I will do. You have no clue quitting is not in my vocabulary.…
