The third and final appeal is Logos (logical appeal). Logos comes into play when the advertisement starts stating the facts about breastfeeding and how much it will cost the teen if they use formula instead. Showing numbers in advertisement gives a realistic view or payment to parenthood. Teens don’t usually think about the consequences of teen pregnancy and one of them is monetary. By stating how much they will spend on baby formula shows teens that money is also involved with raising a child. At a young age, many teens think they’ll just have a child and that it. Having a child is a lifetime…

Though capturing visuals of an object may enhance any project, when including a personal belief or background story towards the main item, it helps the buyer and the seller create a personal connection towards the sneakers. There was this mutual connection when he would state his opinion on how capitalism was is being managed by big American corporations. Just by seeing that statement, it instantly created a bond between John and me. When he had stated that those sneakers were one of the last American crafted Converse, the need to purchase them increased because of the way he scripted its authenticity. Although it may seem accessible to judge an object by viewing photographs, skimming through a detailed definition of the article doubtlessly heightens the influence of the…

Invention in a structure is the first canon of rhetoric. This canon is the construction of a persuasive argument and provides logical justification to a claim. In addition, one of the concepts representing this canon is reasoning and rationale. For every advertisement, news report, etc, there’s always a purpose to why that specific message was published. Inside the Gentlemen's Quarterly magazine (GQ) of the February 2017 issue, published an advertisement for the new Toyota Corolla. Visually, a viewer can see the features of this advertisement that involves the vehicle. For example, the interior of the car includes a rear view camera and a clear perspective to what’s ahead by looking through the windshield. The reasoning for showing these features…

It would be an honor to be a FBLA officer again this year and I have a lot of experience since I was the secretary for FBLA last year. I went to every single meeting and I came to all our school functions like trunk or treat and I donated to all our fundraisers. I had a blast last year being a part of this club and I enjoyed making decisions that influenced FBLA events. I am in many other clubs like SCA, Latin club, and book club because I love working with others and contributing to our community. I know I would be a great officer because I am very responsible, organized, and a motivated leader.…

All of the articles provided several logos that supported their message. The three infographics were heavily embedded with these statistics. My favorite example of logos was in the infographic “Dangers of Distracted Driving” by Kiernan Hopkins. One of the biggest statistics that caught my attention was that in 2010 there were 3,092 people killed and 416,000 injured in distracted driving accidents (Hopkins). There were also numerous statistics about teen drivers. Of all American teens, 40% reported they had been in a vehicle where the driver was using a phone. People between the ages of 16 and 20 are the largest proportion of drivers who drive distracted (Hopkins). These were shell-shocking stats and they really resonate with me because I am still a teenager and fall into these…

When evaluating an advertisement in a magazine, many factors must be taken into account. What magazine is this ad in? What is the overall effect of the ad? Does the image immediately draw attention to the reader? Who is the target audience for the particular ad? All of these factors add up and make the ad’s effectiveness and appeal to the reader. The advertisement that I have chosen to evaluate contains a clear message to women about the makeup brand “Make Up For Ever”.…
