This is the journey about a man’s constant struggle through life, with very few high points of life Eddie has been wondering what his purpose was. Why was Eddie here? In the novel “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom Eddie visits many different ‘heavens’ where along the way learns values of himself that help him make sense of his purpose in the world. These values are things that everyone can connect to, including myself, they bring significance to the novel and help you better understand why Eddie and other characters act the way they do.
The most significant value Eddie learns is that everything happens for a reason. He learns this from the first person he comes to meet in heaven, a man called “Blue Man”. Eddie is not sure who he is when he comes across this first meeting of after life, Eddie only knows that he has passed away from an accident at Ruby Pier, his work, and has now returned back. Blue man greets Eddie and tells him that he will be meeting 5 people in heaven, and each person will be teaching him a lesson. The lesson that Blue man teaches Eddie is significant in this novel because Eddie’s is trying to make sense of times in his life. This lesson is so because Blue man had died because Eddie ran in front of his car as a child. Eddie did not know the Blue man had later died because of him, but Eddie has now realized that it happened for a reason. Blue man died so Eddie could live and Eddie needed to learn that in this meeting at heaven. This value can also relate to my life and my own personal values because this is something that will always be true to me. I would not be here if my parents had not met, and I would not be the person I am without the events in my life. Everything in my life has happened for a reason and this is one of my personal values. For this book this value is very significant because it applies to all the people he meets. Every person he meets is in heaven before him for a reason, and this value
