Entry # 1
(pg.97, slide 4)
In this slide, Artie is telling his wife Anja about how he moved away from Queens so he wouldn’t have to help his father. I chose this slide because I think it shows the tension that has built up between both him and his father over the years, even when his father really needs his help to fix the roof Artie still says no because he is too tired. This shows the weak bond between both father and son. Entry # 2

(pg.99, slide 8)
In this slide, Artie found out that his father found his comic about how Vladek was when his wife died. I believe that this shows one of Arties weak points in the book. When he was younger and wrote this because he didn’t like him, he never thought that his father would see it. Then when his father actually did find it he felt a sense of tenderness towards his father who not only lost his wife, but also a beautiful caring woman. Also, I think he wrote this comic to help get rid of some of the feeling of loss in the pit of his stomach so others could feel his pain too.

(pg.108, slide 2)

They were not greedy in just trying to get out of the war because they all had lived a good life, while their kids have barely gotten to live one at all. Vladek and Anja stayed together through bad times and through good but the most important thing in the entire world to them at that moment was to keep all their kids safe, no matter what.

Entry # 4
(pg.109, slide 6)
In this slide, Anja is saying that no matter what neither her nor her children were going to go to the gas chambers. I chose this slide because I think it shows the thin line between both life and death during the war. Some Jews would kill themselves during the war because they didn’t want to go through the torture of the...
