he Viking Investments simulation presented a reality of many negotiations about money owed: It is beneficial for both sides to come to an agreement and avoid any legal situations. In this case, Pat (Pevsner) and Sandy (myself and Bierbryer) had a contractual agreement for materials and services rendered, however through miscommunication an upgrade was performed on the materials without Pat's personal approval. In order for this negotiation to be successful, Pat and I had to get past the petty arguments of who "screwed" up and who is legally responsible for the events leading up to this negotiation. If we continued debating the merits of one another’s positions, we would have ended up in court, I would have declared bankrupt and Pat would have ended up receiving a much lower percentage of the owed amount.

Fortunately, both sides realized this and the negotiation went smoothly. I know a deal would get done once we both agreed that it was important to talk about a solution not about blame. Both Pat and I focused on the numbers of the agreement, and how we could work/pay off Sandy’s debt, while still allowing WoodCrafters to flourish, and Viking Investment to continue its future expansion goals. We did find an arrangement that would allow for these goals to become feasible. We agreed to accept payment that would turn WoodCrafters no profit for work rendered, and allow for future work to be done as a means of paying off the $200,000 outstanding principal. Furthermore, we agreed that Viking would not call upon our owing the principal as long as we paid a certain percentage of our revenue (enough to provide legitimate relief to the owed principal, while not enough to force a detrimental situation on to

Pat was very frustrated because she wanted to purchase a home but lacked the funds or credit to do so even though Pat was expecting shortly to receive a one-half million dollar final installment payment for some land she sold several years earlier. Dan knew that Pat was very interested in purchasing a home and approached Pat with a proposal to assist Pat in buying a home. Dan told Pat that he would help Pat with the financing. After finding the home she wanted to buy for $250,000, Dan and Pat orally agreed that Dan would purchase the home and "when you come up with the money, I (Dan) will sell it to you (Pat) for $250,000 plus a fair commission to be determined."…

In my negotiation for Viking I played the roll of Sandy Wood and I attempted to negotiate with Pat Olafson regarding a range of issue that we have had with each other over the past several years. These negotiations were extremely complicated because they dealt with three at least different issues. We had to figure out what to do about an outstanding loan that Pat had given me. We also had to come to an agreement on the matter of how much Pat was going to pay for work that I had done for his condominium project. The last detail that we had to negotiate was whether Pat would continue to rent me the space that I was currently using.…

This journal will be based on one episode from each of those two shows. Both episodes represent families living together. Father is the main character in both shows. Husbands and wives relationships are very good and loving. In Norman Cousins’ essay “Who Killed Benny Paret?”, he takes a strong stand against violence in boxing. Throughout the essay, he provides graphic descriptions of the fighter, “Benny Paret was killed in the ring”. After reading his essay, Cousins has convinced me that boxing should be outlawed. In my opinion, boxing doesn’t deserve to be called a sport. It’s just a very dangerous game that can cause deaths to amateur and professional boxers in matches every year. The aim of boxing is to hurt the other man, and above all to knock him down. This “game” appeals to the worst and most violent parts of human nature. As in “Who Killed Benny Paret?”, Cousins states that Benny Paret “was hit hard in the head several times, went down, was counted out, and never came out of the coma”. Medical studies also show that boxing can lead to long – term brain – damage, and to illnesses. Namely, Michael Watson are disabled for life as a result of beating in the ring. For these reasons, banning boxing would mean an end to needless deaths, injuries and brain – damage. On the other hand, boxing makes violence look cool. The money and fame that a few champion boxers get by hitting people send the wrong message to young people. Children are easily influenced by what they watched on television; and if they see two men punching each other, they will think that behavior is acceptable in society. Therefore, watching boxing may cause them acting and thinking violently in real life, which leads crimes to our community. To sum up, we should not let men do this to each other, we should not offer money to encourage them to fight and we should also ban boxing as a form of public entertainment.…

During this class I have made two self- discoveries that will positively impact my career goals. Those self- discoveries has helped to mold, and shape me into a student that I have never thought I would be. Those discoveries were that I am an organized learner, because I made a study plan to help me determine when, and how I would study. Being that I have five children, I had to make sure that I had set a schedule so that my course work including study time would not affect my family time and take away from spending time with my children and fiance`. Since these are the competing priorities in my life right now learning to obtain trust and consistency in the home while I have been attending school has also improved because not only do I see my success so does my children and fiancé. Knowing that I had that support also has made it possible to do my best in school, setting the pace for them to do the same in school also, whether it be good grades, sports, etc. I know that they will continue to be good at what they do and have proven to do so time after time.…

In this week class, according to the further research we did last week, we improved related information of our business model canvas. When children play our products, it is easy to lose some parts. Due to this situation, we consider we can use strategy of “PICK-A-BRICK” to solve this problem. Customers can buy the parts which they lost in our retail store instead of buying whole products. It not only can help customers save money but also provide convenient for them. Additionally, it also in some extent increases the chance of shopping in our store. Sometimes, they just want to buy some lost parts, but once they see some new products, they will attempt to buy, especially for children. Moreover, we also think a new key partner: Grey market. For business, it would contribute to efficiency and significant reduce the costs. We still think some distribution channels- JustBricks Australia, which is online LEGO shop. However, it still requires discussion of this strategy. Market size---we found that the key customers of the Lego are boys aged between four and nine and the families which emphasis learning, activity and creativity. From interview of some customers, we set our hypotheses on customers’ problems, such as Lego are too expensive to buy regularly for kids comparing to other toys, some customers want to have their own Lego creations but lack of bricks and guiding ideas or families want to children participate other activities, for example sport, computer or reading, rather than playing Lego. Through some experiments, we found most customers want only minifigures not entire set, most of potential customers do not know they are paying up to 30% more comparing to the US and etc. by analyzing the result, we decide what to do next. We will expand boundary of target market and refined cost structure and pricing model. There are still lots of thing required to consider. We will continuously improve our business model.…

Often times in life we come to a point where negotiations must take place in order to resolve issues that have come between contracted parties. In 2001 I formed a partnership with a local group of entrepreneur’s to open a new restaurant. They owned the property, financed the building and were responsible for most of the startup costs. We made the usual contract arrangements for profit share, building and equipment costs, and operational controls. I set up the entire staff and restaurant floor plan layout to get the operation off the ground. I designed the menu, trained the staff, and oversaw the day to day operations. In the first year we were able to see a 5% profit over the budget and our investors were very happy with their ROI for year one. All parties planed and set the year two budget however in this negotiation it was contracted that the operator (me) had to sign off and approve the final draft before it was approved. The investors had no restaurant business experience so they lacked the insight to keep the budgeting process realistic, as it pertains to being profitable and sustainable. We pretty much negotiated as things came up and I addressed the things that were important to running the operation, but I did not research or look at the big picture that allowed me to consider potential risks or clauses that protected me if the partnership was to be dissolved.…

The article attempts to provide a picture of the principal functions on which the Canadian pharmaceutical product manager is evaluated, as well as of performance appraisal systems currently used in the pharmaceutical industry. Two methodologies are used, both in-depth interviews and survey, in order to provide the most comprehensive examination of this area. Additionally, it is examined whether or not these systems are proving useful in linking job tasks to performance appraisal in order to achieve the goals of the organization.
