Journal writing on Father knows best and The Crosby Show Episodes

Description: Television comedy shows play a good role in our society. Earlier in 1950s to 1990s many great shows came out such as Father Knows Best and The Crosby Show. This journal will be based on one episode from each of those two shows. Both episodes represent families living together. Father is the main character in both shows. Husbands and wives relationships are very good and loving. Father knows best episode shows the value of money such as when dad buys scooter for his for $50 and sells it for $40 but at the end his son buys the same scooter for $30. Both of the episodes held inside the house. There was only one scene in The Crosby show episode which occurred in the backyard when the little girl gets angry with everybody and hides herself in the carton.
Similarities and Differences: The Father Knows Best episode (The Motor Scooter) is about buying a scooter for his son. The dad loves his son and buys him a scooter as a surprise. But the mom doesn’t think their son is responsible enough to take care of him and the scooter. The whole episode revolves around the scooter and mom dad argument because the both have different thoughts about his son. On the other hand, in The Crosby Shows episode mom takes care of her little daughter and teaches her that everybody loves her and dad spends time with his son and figures out that his son is not good enough to play soccer. In the Father show, mom stays home and dad goes to work and mom wears casual home clothes whereas in the Crosby show, everybody stays home except the son who goes to school. But it also says that mom is a lawyer maybe that’s why she is always dressed formal.
The similarities in both shows are the arguments which are taking place from the fathers. It means fathers are the ones that talk about the situation and prove their selves either right or wrong. In the beginning of both shows, fathers support their sons. Both families

The nuclear family with two children and their parents, living together, is represented by the Carver family. Ken Carver (father) s a working man and supports his family while Betty Carver is a stay at home mother. And she performs the household duties. This is the sort of family that, in the past, society has supported. This sort of family is supposed to demonstrate love, security, acceptance and stability. These are the characteristics that children value. The Carver family showed glimpses of these characteristics. Love, shown by Betty Carver, towards her children, and security through the father providing money and material goods. However, this is not the sort of security a child looks for. This family does not function as well as it could. Small town country life may be okay for Ken Carver, but it seems to stifle his wife, and that leads to the breakdown of a happy marriage, and eventually the breakdown of the family life. This family is far from ideal. It does not work and the…

There are many ways they are similar but I’m only doing three. Both of there have very strong beliefs and traditions that run in their families. They also both have a cultural background. The text states,” I point to each piece of my outfit and say a name: Mami, Papi, Uma, and Whoopee,” (pg. 258). The author states, ””Hau, Takoza, Grandchild,” he greeted me formally in Sioux,” (pg. 603). Both of their grandparents gave them something.…

Television network ABC Family’s breakout comedy series, Modern Family, is a show full of life lessons and hidden meanings. Most television shows nowadays are all about sex, alcohol, and the dramas that occur because of them. Modern Family is not an exception, however it focuses more on the family aspect of life’s many dramas. On the surface, it is similar to the sex and drugs filled television shows that consume the media these days, but underneath that surface each episode has a moral to be learned, and the show overall represents many different assumptions America makes on what a “typical” family is.…

Since its 2005 debut, Seth McFarlane’s American Dad! has been among Fox Television’s popular sitcoms. This animated feature chronicles the day-to-day lives of the Smith family of fictionalized Langley Falls, Virginia. The Smith household is comprised of husband and father Stan, wife and mother Francine, college-age daughter Haley, teenage son Steve, and two non-human entities; a goldfish implanted with the consciousness of an East German named Klaus Heissler and an alien escaped from Area 51 in Nevada named Roger. While politically satirical and sometimes dark, American Dad! still manages to highlight the Smith’s commitment to family values and a Christian Worldview.…

The short story "Us and Them" by David Sedaris shows different aspects about the relationship between two families. Sedaris was pointing about the people who don't have TV in their houses, and how their life's it looks like without TV as in Tomkey's family who don't believe in TV and his family, and he described his neighbor as his new TV show . The simple thing of not watching TV is presenting that the family should be much closer to each other as in Tomkey's family, and better than the author's family, which is a really good thing to have a good relationship between the families, and it can affect how that family respect the existence of their relatives. Also, every different family has their chance to do what they like, certain families decide to try and keep up with other families, in this case having a television, but other families like the Tomkey's decide that they need not follow this social approach. What he didn't realize was that since the Tomkeys didn't have a TV, "Well, it's a boat trailer," Mr. Tomkey said, they entertained themselves in other ways like taking a boating trip and having real conversations amongst themselves at the dinner table. Both the third grader and the two Tomkey kids belonged to a family; the families just had different ways of doing things. Furthermore, the author was cruise because Tomkey's family don't have a TV and he thought they are weird. Then he started to hate them because they took his candy, but at first he was pitied them and treated them as though they are missing out something. And it was really funny when the Tomkeys put on their door "Don't be Greedy" about the candy, however this exactly how was the author facing about the candy when Tomkey's family came in the second day of Halloween, and his mom told him to bring what he earned from the candy. Also, They ate their dinner late because they didn't know what it was supposed to be like. They talked during dinner about their own lives because they…
