Nowadays most of the babies are using the products like body lotion and shampoos are from this company, Johnson & Johnson. This brand’s products are already well known since 1886. According from the research, Johnson &Johnson market in the most population country, China is sixty percent and above. The three brothers, Robert Wood Johnson l, James Wood Johnson and Edward Mead Johnson have formed this company. Nowadays, this company already became a giant medical industry. This company is product many types of product such as the daily items like soaps and shampoo and so on. The pharmaceuticals, medical devices and health care products are also produce by this company. This assignment are examines an aspect of the company’s performance in society highlighting both areas of achievement and those requiring improvement. In this assignment will talk about the performance that connected to the society from the company Johnson & Johnson. It examines their case in the product recall because of certain reason, and in their participating activities like, giving a hand to the disaster victims such as Haiti and Chile earthquakes. From this, it may show the company’s strengths and weaknesses in their operations and their impact on the environment and stakeholders.

One of the case that in opposition to Johnson & Johnson Company The bad incident that Johnson& Johnson experienced is the Tylenol recall incident. Tylenol is one of the products of Johnson &Johnson. Tylenol is owned by McNeil Consumer Healthcare, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. Tylenol is a medicine and it also can say is kind of drug. This “medicine” can find it at many places because it is a big market. The salers vending this good in several retail and wholesale outlet just like consumers can find it at any drug shop, any pharmacies and even the small shop or markets. After taking Tylenol, it can relieve suffering, reducing body temperature when fever, and remove the symptoms of allergies, cold, cough and flu. The incident happen in 1982, this “medicines” was killed seven individuals in the beginning. It was happened in metropolitan Chicago. After that, company pulled 31 million of tablets back from retailers. It had caused the Tylenol sales temporarily collapsed, but after few years this “medicine” was recovered and rebuilt. On 15 January 2010, they had received consumer complaints, Johnson& Johnson forced to recall several medicines, including Benadryl, Motrin, Rolaids, Simply Sleep, St. Joseph Aspirin and Tylenol. (Lynette .2010) The recall was involved in many places like the developed country; Americas and many more around the world. The main reason that those medicines need to recall is consumer complaint that a bad and not acceptable smell coming with the “medicine”(Lewis and Lisa 2010,15). For the worst is the “medicine” also brings many slight effect to patients such as stomachache, dizzy, spew and diarrhea or even feeling not well. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA): “70 complaints was made by consumers in 2008 of a gastrointestinal problem or an unusual smell with Tylenol caplets but failed to report the problem to regulators until a now.” At the time, a stern warning was given from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to Johnson &Johnson. In that warning letter has notice that company needs to report back on the problem and prevent future violations in 15days. Furthermore, the agency warned that it may “withhold approval of requests for export certificates or approval of pending new drug applications" that list one of the company's facilities as a manufacturer until the violations are resolved. Because of the scandal, the company is worry about their reputation will affect and it will affect to their sales mostly.
