John Kerry
John Kerry The Volkswagen Beetle body style was commissioned by Adolf Hitler, one of the world’s worst dictators (“History of the 1949-1967 Volkswagen Beetle”).John Kerry’s first car in 1962 was a Volkswagen bug. Kerry was born on December 11, 1943, in Denver, Colorado. Kerry’s career in the military was very successful. While on a tour in Vietnam, Kerry was a gunboat officer. Kerry earned a bronze star, a silver star, and three purple hearts. After his military career, Kerry pursued a political career. Kerry was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1984 and was re-elected in 1990, 1996, 2002 and 2008. While serving, Kerry strongly encourages education, national security, and our environment and energy problems for the better of America. First, Kerry’s political views on education are very strong. Kerry promoted the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund which expanded educational programs between the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean. His plan was to increase the number of sent and hosted students to make schools larger and more prosperous. Kerry wanted to raise the number of Latin American students studying in United States schools to 100,000, and he wanted to raise the number of U.S. students studying in Latin American schools to 100,000 as well (“Secretary Kerry Launches 100,000 Strong in the Americas Innovation Fund.”). Kerry wanted to establish a National Education Trust Fund to ensure that schools receive the funds schools require for operation. Kerry promotes “No Child Left Behind” to work for schools, states, and teachers by rewarding those who meet higher standards. Kerry is also a strong supporter of after school programs. Another issue Kerry has spoken about is our national security. Especially after September 11th, many people want a safe place to live. Kerry supports letting the Patriot Act expire without congressional approval. He does not believe that this act will make Americans safer, but instead feels that it oversteps on
