There is no complete or certain definition of terrorism, which makes it hard to identify somebody by their action. Terrorism isn’t always about killing people, but in John Brown’s perspective, violence solved everything. Browns actions at Pottawatomie Creek and Harpers Ferry justify him as a terrorist. After John brown was executed, he is still one of the most talked about men in American History. John Brown is talked about a lot because of his big raid on Harpers Ferry. Brown’s raid was to go into Harpers Ferry to get the riffles so Brown and his men could free slaves and arm them to help him have a rebellion. Also, John Brown’s actions at Pottawatomie Creek is why he is also talked about. Brown went to Pottawatomie Creek because he didn’t want that state to become a slave state. Brown grew up with a very religious family that went to church and disliked slavery very much. Brown followed God throughout his life, trying to never let him down. Religion basically ruled how he was going to lead his life. Brown gave an oath that he would follow God and never kill anyone as he believed in God and he would help free slaves. Brown later broke that oath. Brown also used his beliefs to justify the Government of being wrong about slavery. Browns hated slavery and didn’t. want it around. So, he used political reasons on why slavery was wrong. Also, When Brown was little, he experienced the abuse of a slave boy. This experience later on in his life, is what made him become an abolitionist. He disliked slavery a lot. Brown stuck with his religion even after the events that have occurred in his life. Determining between John Brown being a terrorist or a freedom fighter is a difficult task. All throughout Brown’s life, his actions made him a terrorist rather than a freedom fighter. His actions speak louder than his words. All in all, John Brown will be known as a
