Job Shadow Reflection
On December 3rd, 2015 I was lucky enough to have a job shadow at POET in Sioux Falls. Im very happy that Kirsty Jackson gave me a job shadow here because this was one of the most fun experiences that I ever had. I showed up to my job shadow at around 10:30, and right away I could tell that this was going to be a fun time. Within minutes of being inside the building Katie Wiseman greeted me and showed me down to the room where my job shadow took place. Once we got settled we asked each other a few questions to get to know each other. Once we had been aquatinted she began to tell me all about the work that she does at POET. She told me that she was the talent manager at POET. When I asked a question about Human Resources, she told me about how POET uses a system called C.A.R.E. She explained that CARE is more than just human resources and that it caters to the …show more content…
Kirsten is a Development & Growth Partner at POET. I asked her what she thought of her job and she said that she liked it a lot. She told me about all of the different things that she gets to do in a day. She talked about how she has visited all of the POET plants. I asked her what she did at the POET plants and she told me that she looked to see if the plant was being safe and growing in the right direction. She looks to make sure that all of the plants staff is being safe on the job. She also looks to make sure all of the rules are being followed. I asked her if she was given any special benefits when going to the different plants. She said that because the plants are so spread out that she has to fly a lot, she is just really happy that POET lets her keep her travel miles that she uses while she is on her trips to the different plants. She told me that its not a vacation while she is on those trips its still work because she wants to make sure that all of the people at the plants that she is visiting are

My stomach was in knots the night before my first ever interview as I contemplated what I had to offer with little experience outside of babysitting and raking leaves. My family taunted me by referring to my new job as the Assistant to the Assistant Server referring to the T. V. show “The Office”. In the end, the teasing helped diffuse my nervousness.…

On Friday, April 1st, I interviewed Sarah McWhorter, who is a staff interpreter at LUNA Language services. I asked her questions referring to what she enjoys and doesn’t enjoy about her career. I also asked about the qualities of a good interpreter, things to avoid while interpreting, and advice to give an interpreting student. Sarah has done quite a few jobs in her career so far. These consist mostly of medical appointments, college classes, and meetings. Less commonly, she goes on interpreting jobs for conferences, plays, or elementary school events.…

When you reach an age to work, the job you want feels like a dream or set goal, no matter the place of rank in the workforce field. At nearly nineteen, I held my first working experience at RHA on second shift. RHA is a company for the mentally disabled and mentally challenged adults. They are located across North Carolina, parts of Tennessee, and Georgia. Founded in 1991, RHA started out as a small cluster group homes in North Carolina to offer support to people with disabilities. The company has since then expanded. Some of the services provided at the RHA facilities include supported living, day programs, respite, and personal care services. I filled application out and I was hired at a group home located in Newton, NC. My memorable first day was filled with: new responsibilities, acquired new knowledge in healthcare, enjoyment, and I was more interested for future plans in healthcare. Choosing this place of business to work was not anything new to me because my step mom has worked there for many years. I was raised around some of the clients that were now in my care and responsibility.…
