This paper, “Job Preference of BSAT 3G of AdDU”, aims to determine the different jobs that BSAT 3G students prefer after they finish their 4 year course in Ateneo de Davao University. In addition, it also gives perceptions of future employment opportunities abound for accounting major students. Determining job preferences of students is important to the teachers and especially to the employers. Knowing the students perception on their future employment opportunities can be helpful to the advisors and recruiters. Everyone aims to do something after graduation including working according to their specific courses and masters. Knowing their job preferences can be able to market themselves more successful to potential employers (USNW, 2013). If they can clearly tell directly to a potential employer what their desired job it will give them competitive edge over others and is also great to help them asses their potential career options. Students perceive no difference in the work-life balance issues offered between public, private, and governmental accounting. According to government figures, 1.2 million jobs were held by accountants in 2004. Heading into 2014, the demand for accounting students will continue to grow. Estimates show the number of accounting positions growing by 386,000 (U.S. Department of Labor). An increasing number of accounting graduates would be a welcome relief to many accounting recruiters. Shivaswamy and Hanks (1985), McKenzie (1992), and Nelson et al. (2002) examined student perceptions in a variety of accounting fields while Felton et al. (1994) examined the choice of career as a charted accountant or non-chartered accountant. The purpose of this paper is to supplement students on their perceptions about career opportunities. The current findings indicate that students prefer public accounting as their first choice of career while private industry accounting and working for the federal government offer desirable jobs as well. In addition, there are preliminary results which suggest that students believe, on average, that, relative to other accounting fields, public accounting provides more feedback, more travel, provide more variety, provide a stronger professional image, higher task identity, and more information about job performance. The results also suggest that students believe that public accounting has less discrimination and provide less family life. This study can benefit recruiters from public accounting firms by providing a better understanding regarding the needs and perceptions of students about working in this area. Furthermore, professors and academic advisors can use the results to decide what type of information accounting students need to better plan their future career path. In choosing long-term career paths private accounting and public accounting lead the way. This study is anchored with the Expectancy Theory proposed by Victor Vroom (1964) which assumes that behavior results from conscious choices among alternatives whose purpose is to maximize pleasure and minimize pain. It explains the behavioral process of why individuals are motivated to choose one behavioral option over another. According to Vroom's conceptualization, choice of an occupation depends upon the degree to which a given alternative is seen as more likely to lead to valued outcomes than any other alternative as stated by Mitchell and Beach (1975). An outcome is simply anything an individual might want to attain. The valence of an outcome for a person is defined conceptually as the strength of his positive or negative affective orientation...
