Jim Morrison (December 8, 1943—July 3, 1971) was a legend of his time and even today has a large fan following. A poet, a writer, a lead singer, a lyricist, and an intellectual who was more often than not misunderstood. He is best remembered today for his fabolouous creation of the album and the subsequent movie 'The Doors' and is even today Jim Morrison is one of the most charismatic frontmen in the rock music history. He was of Scottish and Irish ethnic heritage. This was the first biography of Jim Morrison after his death and is based on an extensive interview that Hopkins had had with Morrison before his death. It is indeed an irony that like the man, the first manuscript of this book was rejected by major publishers. The title of this book is an inspiration from the Doors song"Five To One," and is broken down into three sections: The Bow is Drawn, The Arrow Flies and The Arrow Falls. The different sections of this book deals with the early years of Morrison, his rise to fame with the creation of Doors, and his final years of drug abuse, overuse of alcohol and finally his mysterious death. This book throws light on Jim Morrison's childhood, his upbringing, his personal life, and the overall influence of people in his life that led to his creativity. This is indeed one of the books that a diehard fan of rock and roll and Jim Morrison should possess
