Jim Morrison Research Paper
The Doors

In 1965 one of the most famous bands, "the Doors" was created at the beach by Venice beach. "The Doors" became one of the premier acts of the late 1960s.
The members were Jim Morrison, who was singing, on the guitar Robbie Krieger, the drummer John Dencemore and Manzarek playing the organ.
At first they arose on birthday or weddings. Then came the day where they signed an contract with Columbia, which was dessolved after a short time.
The Doors played for little money in pub called "London Fog", where they devoloped their unmistakable music style. In the first time Jim Morrison sang with the back to the public, because of his shyness. Therefore it is hardly to imagine if you think of one of his later performaces.

Before, the Doors had just started performing at night clubs and didn’t have much care in the world. That’s when Electra Records had decided to sign a deal with the rookie band. This meant that all the games were over for the group and they had to realize that a real future was ahead of them. The band had their first big break on September 17, 1967 when they appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” This was pretty much a requirement in the 60’s if you wanted to be heard as a band.…

While Toni Morrison was growing up she has also experienced prejudices similar to Twyla. Toni Morrison’s family moved to Ohio to get away from the dangers and economic struggles of the south (Kubitschek 5). As Toni Morrison grew up, she wondered what it meant to be black. She has said that when someone was born black they had to “decide to be black” (3). What Morrison said goes beyond skin color and refers to what the world views (3). This gives insight on why Morrison decided to write this short story. Both women Twyla and Roberta have preconceived views of each other based on world views. Once they build an emotional relationship with each other, they forget what the world has always told them about each other.…

The band was very small in size and was very good. The woman who I believe to be the singer bared a very heavy resemblance to jazz singers from the days of Duke Ellington, she was very good. Hard at work in my room I was contemplating how to start my research paper off with a “BANG!”. When I realized, Pink Floyd’s music usually starts very slow and low. Without missing a beat, I picked up my acoustic guitar and began lightly strumming the intro to “wish you were here”. The light tones swept me to my high school years and brought back memories of movies, road trips accompanied by music such as this, music everyone can sing to, music that everyone can relate to. Then just as quickly as I was swept away, I was eerily back in my room where I was writing this paper. When I thought “what was roger waters thinking while writing the lyrics, and how did the unused sessions of the collaborated written music sound, did David Gilmour like a different guitar riff than waters, or were they unanimously in agreement?”. These were the strikes on my mental match that started the unstoppable Floyd fire which set my mind ablaze.…

The idea of the ‘Club’ became extremely popular after the deaths of four famous musicians, all of who died between 1969 and 1971, within a two-year timespan. Brian Jones, who was the founder and guitarist of The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix who was the guitarist, singer and songwriter of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Janis Joplin who was the vocalist and songwriter for Big Brother and the Holding Company and Jim Morrison who was the lead singer and lyricist for The Doors. These musicians were some of the most influential performers of their time but all had lifestyles affected by drug and alcohol abuse that resulted in their early deaths.…
