Who is Jeffrey Dahmer? Well he was a famous, American serial killer and also a big time sex offender. He murdered a big total of 17 men and young boys between 1970 and 1990. His victims were of the minority background. He is a famous serial killer due to the nature of his murders. He is known for the terrible ways that he killed and disposed of his victims. Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims were raped, dismemberment, tortured and he would eat their body parts. He even would take pictures of them, this was how he lured them in. Offered his victims money if they would let him take sexual pictures of them. Sounds like something out of a movie. On July 22, 1991 he managed to escape from Dahmer’s apartment where he had tried to kill him. He ran into the street and waved down a police car and told them what happened. When the police officers went to Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment they saw pictures of dead bodies and limbs in the apartment forcing them to arrest him on sight. Later they found a head in his refrigerator. They found human skulls and a human heart in the freezer as well. Evidence of his cannibalism of his victims.
His trial began January 30,1992 where he was giving a indictment on 17murder charges. He actually pleaded not guilty to the charges. Later he was only convicted for 15 of the murders. He was convicted of 957 concurrent life sentences in prison. Which means they would be served back to back because he was given 15 life sentences which breaks down into 957 years in prison.
This is an example of retributive justice. Retributive justice is where punishment is the main focus and not rehabilitation. They are not trying to get him ready for society because with that many life sentences there is no way he will ever be a part of society again and that in itself is
