    The Band Perry Essay

The Band Perry, a sibling musical trio composed of Kimberly Perry and her brothers Reid and Neil, is an interesting study in contrast. Just with the first two singles, the newcomers offered a lightweight, ebullient number in "Hip to My Heart" and a sad, weighty ballad, "If I Die Young." And most impressively, both songs manage to fit in well on their surprisingly diverse debut album.…

After I annotated this song and actually looked into what the lyrics were saying I learned that not everyone is who you think they are. For instance, you hide a lot of things from people not because you want to ,but because you don’t know how to tell them or maybe you’re afraid of what they will think of you. In the song ‘Demons’ by Imagine Dragons the singer says,”I wanna hide the truth’(Imagine dragons line 8 box 3) ,but then he says,” don’t want to hide the truth.”( Imagine Dragons line 35 box 8) I think that he is having mixed feelings what he should do. He is afraid that if he tells you that you may leave him or you won’t look at him the same way ever again.…

I can still recall the first hip hop album I listened to. It was Reasonable Doubt by Jay Z. I remember how I instantly fell in love with the lyrics. I hadn’t heard anything like it before, primarily because I only listened to R&B and some watered down rap music. The lyrics were hard hitting. They meant something. I could his hunger through the speakers as he rapped his song entitled “Can I Live” which said “Well we hustle out of a sense of, hopelessness/Sort of a desperation/Through that desperation, we 'come addicted/Sorta like the fiends we accustomed to servin” (3-6). I also remember how my older brother looked at me like I was an idiot because I was listening to an album that had come out in 1996, in 2001. He didn’t quite understand the difference between rap and hip hop music; but I saw the difference right away. Hip hop means something. Rap is just a good beat to dance to.…

“Want-Creation Fuels Americans’ Addictiveness” is a confusing title as much as the essay belonging to it. In the essay, which initially appeared in the St. Paul Pioneer Press Dispatch, Author Philip Slater poorly emphasizes that American society has contributed and amplified Americans’ addiction behavior. The article is initially engaging to a reader, however, the transitions between topics can lose the reader’s interest because of the ambiguity. Slater also brings good points for the reader to consider but he fails to correlate them together in a manner that could easily identifiable. Slater is also unclear as to the intention of his argument by his manner of bringing up irrelevant issues that are present in American society. Ultimately, the poor organization and Slater’s inability to show the relationship between the examples given make this essay difficult to read and difficult to comprehend the purpose for which it was written for.…

It has been brought to my attention; that the past motion pictures you have acted in have not been as successful as we both thought. This in no way shape or form has any thing to do with your comic routines, as we both know they are a huge success and growing ever more popular day by day. The American public loves who you are, and what you stand for although my sources tell me that your acting needs some polishing up. This is what the people want and being on top as an actor and a comedian the sky is the limit for Katt Williams. This is not as big of a deal as it sounds. I have pulled some strings and have landed you an audition on Broadway. I know Katt Williams on Broadway? Yes this lead role is perfect for you it allows you to use your natural funny and mix it with some real acting. Soap Opera, David Ives doesn’t sound like the funniest play ever. You state in stand up you can’t judge a book by its cover the same goes for plays. This is exactly what your career is in dire need of.…
