Was the decision to go ahead with system 360 a responsible one?

I my opinion the decision to go ahead with system 360 was a responsible one. It current computer architecture was not flexible enough to accommodate customer needs. Eventhoigh when it decided to invest in system 360, it was in a strong competitive position both financially and technologically, it would have been a matter of time that another competitor would have invented a technology that would have seriously compromised IBM’s dominant position. In order to stay ahead of the competition, IBM had to radically transform its architecture to accomoted customer needs that required flexibility in terms of upgrades. In adopting the system 360 program, IBM was able to firmly position its as the dominant force in the computer market.

Japanese 7-11 vs US 7-11.

Japanese 7-11 were distinctly differect from their US conter parts for many reasons. The Japanes 7-11, instead of building brand new stores, adopting a strategy of converting small moms and pops stores which helped the stores a distinctly friendly environment. This strategy was partly foced on the company due to the Japaneses governments stron support of small business. It also mioplemented a strategy of vendor consolidation which significantly reduced cost and made the franchises efficient compared to their US conunterparts. IN terms of food variety in the store it chose to cater traditional japans snakes as opposed to fast foods. It implemented a strict quality control that guaranted the quality of food in the stores were of the a quality. Lastly, one of the most revolutionalry aspects of the Japanes stores awere their use of advance information technology. Through its advance information technology sustems it was able to capture record of sales and information on customers that allowed it the flexibility to meet customer demands. This move also alloed it to siginifcantly reduce inventory since it was able to quanity the demand of products.

    I think President Truman’s decision to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki was wrong. I understand that many people feel this was the right decision and there was no other way to end war but here are a few reasons why I think the bomb droppings was a mistake. One reason is because the United States didn’t even leave a warning for Japan to get ready or give them a chance to surrender from the world’s harshest war weapon (Primary source packet #2). In another document, Mr. Byrnes’ didn’t agree with the atomic bomb incident because Japan was already defeated and wouldn’t have made it another 6 months (document based questions #2). If the United States would’ve just waited a little longer or use a less harsh method that they knew more about, I bet Japan would’ve gave up and let us win. I also understand the bomb plan was a success in ending the war (Hiroshima: the first city destroyed) but I also know the United States did not predict how badly the effects would be or how destructive the bombs actually were (Primary Source Packet #2). Just because this plot was designed to save American lives and cost (fog of war lesson #5), I think the damages and side effects were much greater than anything that has ever happened in war. In Life: Hiroshima and Nagasaki excerpt, a man spoke about what he saw, “In the following waves [after the initial blast] people’s bodies were terribly squeezed, and then their internal organs ruptured. Then the blast blew the broken bodies at 500 to 1,000 miles per hour through the flaming, rubble-filled air. Practically everybody within a radius of 6,500 feet was killed or seriously injured and all buildings crushed or disemboweled.” This statement made me realize that innocent people died because of Truman’s say and I don’t think this was fair at all. At the least he should’ve warned Japan and the innocent people to get out, surrender, or there will be trouble. Another guy said he could see “miles of crushed,…

    Tanpin Kanri is best described as the customer and the employees deciding what sells in the store, and not the company. First the customers come in and buy what is in the store. Then the employees observe what is selling and what is being a shelf warmer. From there the store employees will make decision about what to put on the selves, so that all items will sell. As a former retail employee, I believe this is a great concept.
