Jane Eyre
Analysis Journal #2
Due Date: February 19, 2013 Covering: Chapters 16-26 You were assigned SIX different analysis topics. Using these words, identify passages from chapters 16-26; you may not use more than one passage from the same chapter. Conduct a detailed annotation. You must identify TWO (2) passages from chapters 16-19, another TWO (2) passages from chapters 20-23, and another TWO (2) passages from chapters 24-26. You must apply each of the topics assigned, and you may not use a topic more than once. For each passage, * conduct a detailed annotation, focusing on both figurative language and rhetorical devices, * formulate a thesis statement (identifying points of analysis), and * draft a one paragraph response (7-10 sentences). Detailed summaries are not permitted. Instead of summarizing events, simply identify them, and draft an analysis of their importance to theme, conflict, or characterization. You must include infused textual evidence (along with citations). Elevated diction (including strong verbs correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation) is expected. You should write using varied sentence lengths and types. Use this website (http://www.literature.org/authors/bronte-charlotte/jane-eyre) to copy/paste your assigned text into this template. Each entry will include * one passage excerpt, * handwritten annotations, and * a typed 7-10 analysis * with a thesis statement and * at least one infused quote and * citation. As this page includes your name and period, submit this cover page with your assignment. TEACHER USE ONLY: | Submitted on time | YES NO | Grade | | Notes |
