Jamie Nabozny: A Case Study
Jamie Nabozny was bullied all through middle and high school. He was tormented because of his sexual orientation. But, he did not give up. He beat the bullies, and acted as a role model for the nation.

Jamie Nabozny stood up to the bully when others may not have. At first, he was taunted with hurtful words, but the bullying only escalated from that point. Jamie had had enough. He complained to Principal Mary Podlesny about this constant bullying. “We will take care of it” stated the principal. But, nothing occurring with Jamie’s bullying problem. The bullies kept on tormenting Jamie. Eventually, Jamie reached his breaking point. He was so depressed and traumatized because he was bullied he attempted suicide. “I remember taking a whole lot of pills and never wanting to wake up again”, said Jamie. After his horrid experience in middle school, Jamie was off to high school. Jamie thought the new campus and fellow students would change the circumstance he was in. Unfortunately, very little changing in Jamie’s life. When he was beat so violently he was admitted to the hospital, Jamie’s teacher, Ms. Woodworth, reported the abuse to vice principal, Tom Blauert. He reiterated her concerns by saying ”what do you except when you hit on the hockey team?”. It is horrible that Jamie was beat, but the fact that Jamie was blamed

His life was terrible, and he was shown pejorative behavior. But, he preserved and stood up to the bullies. He took them to court, and won. His tormentors said that him being openly gay was the problem, that “boys will be boys” and that he was ”hitting on the hockey team”. He stood up against this improbable odds. In addition, Jamie Nabozny acts as a role model for the nation. He inspires the children around the world. This is terrible that children have to suffer through this.
