James Rachels Virtues

In James Rachels’ books, The Elements of Moral Philosophy, the chapter made several points about virtue. Virtue can be defined in different ways and mean different per every person. But, virtue needs to bring good morals and be justified with good reasons. Good characteristic makes a person virtuous. Should Virtue Ethics be practice again? Definition of virtue brings a lot of competent. Structures of virtue, can set many explanations and problems. But, virtue is important because the upright morals it brings. Virtue is a bigger picture rather than a fine print.
In summary, in this chapter Rachels uses components to help explain virtue. Virtue can practice different good characteristics, but there’s no set of right characteristics. The income and outcome needs to seek golly overall. Should avoid vices all together. Example of virtue are compassion, patience, and resourceful. Four examples can consist of virtue. Courage, generosity, honesty, and loyalty to friends and family. These aspects are important because the outcome establish goodness to oneself and others. Courage can happen if someone stands for “what is right.” Generosity shows kindness and openness to others.
“The point is not that the virtuous will always be richer; the point is that the virtuous will flourish.” (Rachels and Rachels pg.167) Virtue helps a person grow and learn vulnerable things from good characteristics. Paving through good opportunity for others to come. “The major virtues flow from our common human condition; they are not determined by social customs.” (Rachels and Rachels pg.169) Everyday, people are faced with decisions. Decisions can fall between with good intention or bad ones.
