Jaguar Astrological Chart
After casting my Egyptian astrological chart, I was given Anubis, the god of death and mummification. Anubis represents responsibility and the objective parts of life, such as truth and spirituality of the soul. After casting my Greek astrological chart, I was given the Taurus, the symbol of patience, loyalty, and love. Some of the negative traits of Tauruses were interesting, such as stubbornness, inflexibility, laziness, and possessiveness. After casting my Mayan astrological chart, I was given the Jaguar, the symbol of sensitivity, intelligence, spirituality, religion, and psychic. According to Mayan definition, the Jaguar symbol represents individuals who are tight-lipped and aggressive, but not confrontational. According to Mayan beliefs, individuals born on Jaguar day …show more content…
As stated before, the premises of both astrology and mythology are so general that any outcome satisfies the idea at hand. This is one major pillar of science. Astrology and mythology have shown zero ideas that could be tested and proven true. Science requires an individual, scientist, or researcher create predictions of an idea. Then they must use observation, research, and experiments to test that prediction and falsify the idea. Nothing in science is ever considered to be 100% factual or true. That is why astrology and mythology can not be categorized as science. In an individual's mind, their belief system or religion is 100% true. Individuals do not test their belief systems using evidence.
Secondly, astrology does not rely on evidence. There is no evidence that can affirm the position that astrology and mythology are forms of science. In science, ideas that are not supported by evidence are automatically rejected. Science is a subject that is belief-free, everything is backed up by evidence and facts. If something is ever proven wrong, the entire scientific community aborts

To believe that even a large minority of people believe in astrology enough to make it their religion is completely idiotic. While I'm sure that there are a few people out there that might take astrology to the extreme, that fraction of the human race is so insignificant that its not even worth bringing into this debate. Certain people believe very strongly in George Lucas' "Star Wars" films and idolize them, but that doesn't mean that we should put a ban on the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode 3" film because some loose cannon out their will undoubtedly do something drastic because the movie will be the final chapter in what he has convinced himself is a way of…

Geoffrey of Monmouth’s History of the Kings of Britain hints at the darker side of this story by drawing on Pagan influences in Celtic society and tradition. Just as cosmological phenomenon play a vital role in Christian tradition, astrological events were rich symbols used in Celtic Pagan traditions. When Merlin describes his vision of “the star, and the fiery dragon under it” in Geoffrey of Monmouth’s History of the Kings of Britain, he is drawing on an old tradition that dragons were considered to be a symbol of devil and Pagan worship (Geoffrey of Monmouth Chapter 8.15). Druids and Druidism, an ancient and mostly forgotten sect of Celtic Paganism that served as a political, economic, and religious framework in early Celtic society, were especially interested in astrological events (Dougherty 54-55). Pomponius Mela, a geographer in the first century AD, wrote that the reason they would have placed an important role on stars and cosmology, and thus on Arthur’s birth, was because “[the Druids] claim to know the size of the earth and the cosmos, the movements of the heavens and stars, and the will of the gods” (Koch 612). Druids rooted much of their thinking in the natural world and even “claimed to be able to control the elements” (Cahill 115). Druids were not wild,…

On the Aztec Calendar, the year was divided into 13-day periods. Each group of 13 days had a different deity ruling over the unit. This is because these units were thought to have a special symbolic influence and the deities were to ensure a positive outcome (Smith 256). In the middle of the Sun Stone, is the sun god Tonatuih. His tongue protruding between his teeth resembles a sacrificial flint knife. In his claw like hands he clutches human hearts (Palfrey). ‘Many scholars have debated on the stone’s meaning and purpose.…

From pages of 120-133 in Magic in the Middle Ages, author Richard Kieckhefer discusses the practice of astrology in medieval Europe. He explains how astrology is a mix of Arabic science and Aristotelian cosmology, and is occult in its nature because it focuses on “those which cannot be ascribed to the physical makeup” (Kieckhefer, 131) of themselves. I find that the most interesting point in this reading is when Kieckhefer explains how the zodiac is rooted in astronomy, yet astrologers used the zodiac to shape their ideas. Keeping in mind our class discussion that established astronomy as the science of movements, astrology as the science of effect, and that all astrologers were astronomers but not all astronomers were astrologers, I find…

The word Zodiac is a Greek word meaning “circle of animals.” “Animals” is used in reference to all living things. All Zodiac signs relate to Greek myths. Each myth is somehow associated with either humans or animals. The twelve Zodiac signs each have a Greek story that explains how the group of stars were able to get into heaven.…

Astrology is different from Arithmancy. Arithmancy examines the numbers. Astrology examines the stars and planets. An astrological star chart is used to study the planetary positions of the sun stars and moon. They determine this information by comparing it to a persons birthdate. The birthdate is very important in astrology. Astrology is a field that studies the planets. They use the planets to study the relationship to our human life. People have made entire careers off the belief in and practices of astrology. The idea of the stars determining our fate has withheld people's interest for centuries. Robert Burns, an Aquarius, was very anti-superstition. He had almost no belief in astrological predictions or zodiac signs. There is some humor in this though, because through Burns' poems and songs this pseudoscience shows just how accurate it can be. The most parallel example of Burns' personality and his Aquarius sign can be seen in the work The Fornicator.…

    Why Is A Horoscope Wrong

The first reason why a horoscope is false is because it is based on the false belief of astrology. Astrology is the attempt to explain the relationship between humans and the celestial bodies. In other words, people who believe astrology think that, superstitiously, unpredicted changes in the sky have a relationship with unforeseen human life. The horoscope predicts the person’s day, but no one knows what will happen except God. For example, if a star suddenly died and because of that, the horoscope said you would die, would you believe that? No! It would be ridiculous…

In ancient times, astrology was closely linked to fields such as astronomy, philosophy and medicine. Astrology is a broad topic with deep roots in history that must be broken down in order to fully understand it. The average person is only aware of their sun sign; this is only the beginning of one’s zodiac profile. Each planet in our solar system is representative of a certain aspect of life. In order to get the most precise reading of your zodiac, you have to know which sign was affecting each planet on the date and time you were born. This can become as specific as to what degree the planet is influenced by its respective sign. If you weren’t aware of how in depth a study astrology is, I encourage you to find out.…
