It Wont Be Easy
Frederick Douglass quoted these words in a speech in 1857. This quote to me is very legitimate, especially considering what people go through in life. The way I relate to this quote is working out and playing sports, because when you are working hard its not easy. You are running out of breath and getting tired, but you are getting stronger. Through all the struggles I progress and get better. I once heard a quote that relates to this one, “It wont be easy, but it will be worth it.” Everyone in life has to remember that life is not easy and it going to be hard if you want to be great at something, because nothing is giving in life it is earned. If you want something in life, and you truly want it you will go after it no matter what

The quote I have chosen is, “Success consists of going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm”. This is one of Winston Churchill's most well known quotes. This quote was said during his reign as the Prime Minister of Great Britain. It is unknown as to where this quote came from but I found it to be very captivating. I feel like Churchill is trying to get the point across that in life it is normal to not be perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and each failure shapes you as a person. Churchill is saying that if you put your mistakes in the past without changing who you are, it makes you stronger and more successful than someone who fails to do so. Being afraid of failure gets you nowhere in life so Churchill is stating that everyone should strive with great enthusiasm in order to be their best self.…

This quote is long, but includes many factors that make it so inspiring. The first sentence is my favorite part of the quote because it makes one of the best points. With a great use of vocabulary, it explains how the hardest trails lead to the best views. The main reason that this part speaks to me is because one of my favorite hobbies is hiking. In my experience, the hardest hikes always lead to the most divine views. That doesn’t only apply to hiking, however. Working hard in school and other activities always ends well. I like it because it shows how the beginning may be the hardest segment, but it will always lead to an excellent reward.…

Michael Jordan once said “I’ve failed over and over and over again and that’s why I succeeded.” If you don’t even try in life you will never be successful. When you want to be successful as bad as you want to breathe then you be successful. Success is about developing personal wisdom and competence or what could be called personal mastery in the field you want to succeed in. Nothing is ever impossible to accomplish in life. You have to be determined that you can do the impossible. If you have determination you can overcome the adversities in life.…

The second work that relates to the quote is John Q starring Denzel Washington. One device that is present in this work which will help to support my interpretation of the quote is conflict. In the work of John Q takes place a poor African American family that lives in Chicago. John Q the main character has a son named Michael Archibald that is interest in body building. Then, one day he had some sort of an attack, turns out he has a weak heart and is need of a transplant. John Q’s wife Denise Archibald is very desperate…

The American Dream embodies this quote, and I agree with it. Who does not? As my former principal at the Florence Freshman Center used to say, “Hard work pays off!” Because of my own past experiences, I can attest to his saying. Since its founding, America has been the land of opportunity, and thousands of people have stormed to the country to better their lives. Even if the majority of them did not become wealthy, the country still held onto the sentiment, and it exists today. Nowadays though, many other countries around the world offer better opportunities for people, but foreigners still want to come to America. I believe that this ideal has helped the people everywhere to work harder and push for a better tomorrow. This ideal takes the determination in all of us and pushes it to the forefront. Once we embrace the idea that hard work eventually pays off, I believe that this is the catalyst for…

People born with natural talent hardly ever face challenges regarding the category they are proficient in. Imagine an academically gifted child, who decides to learn how to play the cello. This child quickly becomes frustrated with the advanced techniques and skills they are required to learn but cannot grasp, and quits altogether. Nothing was learned from this failure, the child did not retain any information they were taught regarding the cello. In the first paragraph of “Adversity: An Opportunity to Choose Growth” a nonfiction article by Camille Preston, Ph.D, PCC, it asks the rhetorical question:”What will [someone] do to turn adversity into a learning opportunity?” Few people turn mistakes into opportunities to grow as a person. Instead, they turn from one thing to the next, giving up every time they fail. Isn’t it best for people to stick to what they’re good at, in order to avoid getting hurt? Of course, some people claim to be “untalented”, but everyone enjoys doing something important to them - perfect at it or not. Being content with life is the end goal, and if someone has failed often enough to be dissatisfied with their life, it was not a happy life they lived. To quote Thomas Edison: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Obviously, if someone does not succeed, they…

Frederick Douglas one said, “If there is no struggle there is no progress”. Douglas is expressing how people have to go through a lot of hard work. People have to get through obstacles to move forward with their life starting with school, tragedies, jobs and other things to achieve their goals. Certain people don’t get through things as easy as others so it’s a harder struggle but if you keep moving forward and doing what is best to stay on track you will get progress and be where you need to be in order to do what you want to do in your life.…

“Greatness lies not in being strong, but in the right using of strength….” This quote by Henry Ward Beecher means that in order to be great, you do not need to be powerful; you just need to know how to use your power appropriately. I agree with this quote because most people that are great are not the strongest. Instead they use what they have to become great. The quote can be seen in The Color Purple by Alice Walker.…

“Whether or not an individual succeeds is unimportant. The very act of trying is itself a victory.” The quotation applies itself to a lot of things in life but the book Lush, by Natasha Friend, which is a realistic fiction and the book The Acorn People, by Ron Jones, which is a non-fiction really relate to the quote in a special way. This quote indicates that it does not matter if you succeed in what you are trying to accomplish, it only matters if you at least try to do it and that in itself is an accomplishment.…

“If there is no struggle then there is no progress.” This quote was said by Fredrick Douglass as a way to explain how hard the world works against us. Nature has struggle naturally, an example is the lion and his prey. A lion has to struggle to catch his prey, so he can live, and the prey has to struggle to stay away from the lion so it can live. The progress that both have is that they both get to live if they make it through the struggle. When a person hears the word “struggle” most try to avoid what comes with the struggle, but everything has struggle. People avoiding struggle are struggling to avoid it, quite the conundrum. Fredrick Douglass could have meant a lot by the quote, “If there is no struggle then there is no progress,” but this is what I believe he meant.…
