It Couldn T Be Done

Perseverance is defined as the continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition. Perseverance can be shown by J.K. Rowling, who got rejected by twelve major publishers but worked hard to publish her book and sold over 120 million copies of it, and Elizabeth Blackwell, who defied the stereotype that women could not become doctors and became the first female doctor to practice in the United States. Perseverance can be shown in people’s daily lives such as working hard until the end when writing an essay or being determined …show more content…
Hearing this, a man uses determination and perseverance to take on the thing that “couldn’t be done.” After hard work, the man eventually does the thing that “couldn’t be done.” After somebody scoffed at the man and said that “it couldn’t be done”, “the first thing we knew he’d begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That couldn’t be done, and he did it.” (12-16) The man never got discouraged by the remarks of the people, but instead started the thing very positively without any regrets. He started to smile and sing during the thing which made him more eager to face it. The man worked hard and persevered until the end, where he did the thing that “couldn’t be …show more content…
Grit is passion and perseverance for very long-term goals, meaning that a person endures and determined until the end. When Angela Duckworth found out that social intelligence, physical health, and IQ were not contributed to being successful, but grit was, she defined grit as, “having stamina. Grit is sticking with your future, day in, day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years, and working really hard to make that future a reality. Grit is living life like it’s a marathon, not a sprint.” (3:00) Having grit is very beneficial to people because it is persevering for the long run, which is your future and accomplishing goals that were just a dream before. Grit is not giving up in the middle, but working hard and persevering through obstacles until the end. Grit is what makes a person successful in life and in their

Grit is the strength of character and is seen differently by everybody such as how Dr. Duckworth sees it and myself. Dr. Duckworth states in her interview with “Ted Talk” that it’s how much passion a person has, how much stamina they have in achieving their long term goal. Unlike Dr. Duckworth I believe that a person’s mindset plays a major part in grit and I also believe you have to be optimistic and have the resilience to be a gritty person. Dr.Duckworth’s article on grit discusses the importance and the differences of grit.…

The first time I experience grit was when I first went skiing for my first time at Sundown, which is a ski resort near Dubuque. At first I did not like skiing, because I would always fall, but I was determined to be a good skier. By my second time at Sundown I started to get the hang of it. By my third night I could go down all the hills in a controlled manner, then I started to really enjoy skiing. I then found out if I keep on working and try my hardest on something it will always pay off in the end. Grit made me take something I dislike, and made it into one of my favorite things to do in the winter. Today I have been skiing for over 3 years. Even after I hurt my back skiing 2 years ago, I still went back the next year.…

Grit, the display and actions of perseverance with strength, won't get you very far in life as you might think. You're not gonna have the urge to motivate yourself with ‘grittiness’ after you read what Professor Marcus Crede from Iowa State University has to say. Decide for yourself after reading this article if you concur with the Dr., and author, whose life work was devoted to the thought of grit and its repercussions, or if you side with the Professor at a college university who is in complete disbelief of this theory. “Grit is that 'extra something' that separates the most successful people from the rest. It's the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality” (Bradberry). Throughout someone life series of events may occur, some of them will be good and some of them will bad, but the way people deal and react with the bad occurrences shape their characters and may lead to good events later one, meaning the amount of grit someone has can lead to how successful someone will be later in live. This can be shown by comparing the childhood, the father-son relationship, and the adulthood of two different literary characters, Joe Rantz, from the Boys in The Boat, and Amir, from The Kite Runner.…

Grit has many meanings to me. It means that you can push through when you need to most. Also, it means that you try your hardest all the time. Many people have potential but don't try hard enough to use it. You can be smart, but if you don't try, you won't go anywhere. You can be athletic, but if you don't put forth the effort to become great, you won't. This is why grit is so…
