Mr.Cannavale 11/26/13 IS WAL-MART GOOD FOR AMERICA?
Ever heard of Wal-Mart? The anti-union retailer? The retailer that buys products overseas for “cheap” prices? If you do, do you think Wal-Mart is good for America? Well I think Wal-Mart isn’t good for America because it pays its manufacturers low wages. Wal-Mart pressures its manufacturers to make Wal-Mart that product. About 80% of their manufacturers are from China. Wal-Mart had been “hooking” consumers with their “cheap” prices. Because of Wal-Mart getting their products from China, it affects the number of jobs in the United States. As my opinion I think Wal-Mart is bad for America. One reason that I think that Wal-Mart is bad for America, is because it pays its manufacturers overseas very low wages. Wal-Mart makes or shows a product and hires a manufacturer with the lowest cost for making that product. Wal-Mart has about 6000 stores worldwide. Imagine that many retailer stores getting their products from all over China. Plus from the factories in China there are air pollution problems that may have been caused by Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart pays oversea workers the lowest wages as possible to make a great profit. Another reason that I think Wal-Mart isn’t good for America is that Wal-Mart “hooks” their consumers into buying expensive products. The secret is putting a cheaper product near the same expensive product. So the customers think that the expensive product is still cheaper. Wal-Mart tricks people into buying expensive products so Wal-Mart can make profit. Wal-Mart had made almost a half of a trillion net sales by now. Wal-Mart has used this strategy to make itself the first retailer in the U.S. So I still think that Wal-Mart is bad for America.
