MATTER
 Everything in the Universe is made up of MATTER

PURE SUBSTANCE
The substance which contains same kind of Atom or
Molecule

i] element
A pure substance which contain same kind of Atom

ii] compound
A pure substance which contain same kind of Atom or
Molecule but made up of different Atoms through a
Chemical bound

Mixture
Mixture are constitutor by more than one kind of

pure

form known as a substance

Substance

A substance cannot be separated into other kind of matter by any physical process
 EXAMPLE; sugar solution
 Salt solution
 Lemon solution
 HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURE

A mixture which has uniform composition in entire solution such mixture is called
HOMOGENOUS MIXTURE
A mixture which has a uniform composition in entire solution such mixtures are called
HOMOGENEOUS MIXTURE

In homogenous mixture absolve only single phase.
SOLUTIONS are also one kind of Homogeneous mixture
 SOLUTIONS
SOLUTIONS are divided into

SOLUTE+SOLVENT
EXAMPLE; if 100kg of solute +90G of
Solvent in water

 HETOGNEOUS MIXTURE
A mixture which contains no uniform solution in entire solution such mixtures are called HETROGENOUS MIXTURE
CONTAINS TWO PHASES

Example; salt + water

TRUE SOLUTION

Homogeneous mixture
Cannot be seen by naked eye
Cannot scatter a beam of light passing through the
Path of the solution
Cannot separate by normal filtration

COLLIDAL SOLUTION

Heterogeneous solution
 Cannot be seen by naked eye
 Scatter a beam of light on the path of solution this phenomena  Is called TYNDALL EFFECT
Cannot be speared by normal filtration by Centrifugation

SUSPENSION
Heterogeneous mixture
Can be seen with naked eye
Scatter a beam of light a make its path visible
Can be separated from normal filtration

If the heterogeneous mixture is separated through filtration then the salt water and sand should be separated completely.A heterogeneous mixture is a mixture that is not evenly distributed throughout. If the homogenous mixture is separated through evaporation, then their should just be salt left over. A homogeneous mixture is mixture that is thoroughly distributed evenly throughout the space. After the procedure is done, there should be a 90% recovery rate.…

Each component of a mixture keeps its original properties and the proportion of each component is variable. The physical properties of a mixture depend on its composition because the amounts of each component making up a mixture may be different. Some physical properties examples can be used to describe pure substances include solubility, boiling point, melting point etc. By taking advantage of the unique physical properties of individual components within a mixture, it should be possible to separate a mixture into its components and they can be used by different separation methods - one example is a strainer.…

Finding out the physical and chemical change in matter. There was seven different substances that were being tested; Mossy Zinc (Zn), Magnesium (Mn), Copper (Cu), Magnesium Oxide (MgO), Copper II Nitrate (Cu(NO3)2), Copper II Carbonate (CuCO3) and Sodium Chloride (NaCl). There were four test tubes set up for the experiment. Each substance was divided amongst the four test tubes. The first test tube was being observed at its natural state and then it was held over a Bunsen burner to a boil and observed when it was heated up. The second test tube, which already had the substance being tested, was then added with a little cold water. I recorded my observation in the chart below. Test tube two was then held over the flame and waited for a physical and chemical change. With a glass stirring rod the substance in test tube two was cooled off and mixed around and placed on a piece of red and blue litmus paper. I waited a minute to see if there was any change to the litmus paper and then recorded my results. Test tube three was mixed with the compound and Hydrochloric acid. Most of the substances that were being tested had a physical or chemical change with the HCI. Lastly, test tube four which contained a new piece of a substance was mixed with Sodium Hydrochloric Acid. After each compound the test tubes were cleaned thoroughly and set up for the next substance that was being tested. This was repeated seven times.…

    Do Electrons Really Exist?

Science has defined the nature of the world through an assortment of things that are observed in the physical world and those that are unobservable, improvable theories that explain the world. Electrons are unobservable. We cannot experience their existence with our own human senses. Do electrons really exist, or are they just useful fictions? Antirealists would explain that they do not exist because you cannot observe them. Realists would argue that electrons exist because they can be manipulated. With a close inspection of the arguments of antirealists, realists, and other philosophers of science, I believe that electrons do in fact exist.…

Wien’s Law links the wavelength at which the most energy is given out by an object and its temperature. Astronomers use a star’s light to determine the star’s temperature, composition, and motion. Astronomers analyze a star’s light by looking at its intensity at different wavelengths. Blue light has the shortest visible wavelengths, at about 400 nanometers. (Nm)…
