Thomas Fiedman said, “When I was growing up, my parents told me, 'Finish your dinner. People in China and India are starving.' I tell my daughters, 'Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job.” I have found myself going back to this quote quite often when discussing different educational topics, but it seems that a lot of the topics in some way or another brings up the discussion of addressing the homework issue.
As a teacher, I do believe there is an importance in having students’ complete homework regularly. Reilly conveyed in the article, Is Homework Good for Kids? As a teacher and future administrator, I will advocate for the students who are required to complete homework assignments to make sure all assignments are purposeful and meaningful to lessons being taught within the classroom. I will make sure that teachers are demonstrating to the students why and how the homework is important to the subjects being taught. I will also use the teachers daily lesson plans to check for accountability for homework that is being sent home.
