In 1942 when the intents of hitler were clear to the world, people were trying to help out the jewish community as much as they could. Providing housing for families trying to hide, giving out fake licenses so that jews could hide in plain sight, and risking their own lives for others. All of these people were trying to help out the jewish in many ways but one woman is remembered by everyone for her causes in helping the jews, this woman is Irena Sendler. Irena was born on February 15 1910, she was born into a polish family of doctors and for most of her life she had been assisting her father help people, because of this she cared for everyone.By 1942 she had joined the polish underground group called Zegota, by the end of the war Irena had …show more content…
She was accompanied by ten of her close friends and they were all together the difference was Irena was the head of the children's division. How Irena was able to get into the Ghetto was from the use of her papers as a social worker and from the papers of a worker from the C.D.D. Once they had all gotten into ghetto they had set up an establishment in a church, this is the key place in which they would help jewish children escape. The children would just have to know how to recite a prayer and they would be in. After that they would smuggle the children out of the ghetto through many different ways such as in boxes, suitcases, bags, and sometimes even coffins. The easiest part was that the children were so small and could easily fit into small objects. They would even make sure to find a family that would be willing to adopt these children
So because of their access to the church they were able to smuggle out the children through the use of small containers. They had been able to do this for many years and in the end they were able to save 2,500 jewish children which was an astonishing amount. Later on in years one of the members of Zegota had stated that she had even started before joining Zegota, the total amount of adults she had saved was 500 making a total of 3,000 people she had

Born in October of 1923, Grese grew up in an ordinary, agricultural German family with four other siblings. As usual, she attended school with her siblings and helped with the household chores. In contrast, Grese’s adolescent years were not in her favor and marked a definite period of change. She was quite enthralled with the Nazi youth organization her father highly disapproved of, the League of German Girls . Later, her mother reportedly committed suicide by drinking hydrochloric acid in 1936 due an affair committed by her father. Two years later, in 1938, Grese’s poor academic performance leads her to leave school and her father’s home at age fifteen in search for work instead. Her first employment was six months at an agricultural farm before working at a hospital. Upon entering the hospital, Grese knew she desired to become a trained nurse and work there permanently. Despite her hard work, the German Labor Exchange denied her request and removed her from the hospital after two years . Once again, Grese found herself relocated and employed at another farm. Although discouraged, she did not protest her employment at the dairy farm and persistently reapplied to become a nurse. Her efforts were rejected a second time in 1942 and was being transferred once more. Only this time, Grese objected the Labor Exchange’s decision to send her away. Irma Grese, now nineteen years old and without a family, quietly left after much deliberation to a job at Ravensbruck Concentration…
