EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

IDLC Finance Limited one of renowned non banking financial institution in Bangladesh. It started its operation at 1985 and it is the pioneer financial institution in Bangladesh. IDLC Finance Limited has different kinds of products and services. IDLC is financing in different sectors through their products and services. IDLC Finance Limited is a mother company. It has two separated subsidiaries and they are IDLC Investments Limited and IDLC Securities Limited. I have done my internship in IDLC Investments Limited. And my topic was the “Practice of Investment banking in Bangladesh”.
A new concept in Bangladesh financial system is investment banking which is directly involved with the capital market. An investment bank plays a vital role in any capital market of the developed world. It has lot of activities. But in Bangladesh it is totally a new concept which is in the stage of development. In Bangladesh investment bank mainly perform four kinds of activities. They are issue management, underwriting, portfolio management and corporate advising. IDLC Investments Limited is performing all of these four activities.
IDLC Investments Limited is providing different capital market related services to the corporation and institution seeking for the funds and individuals seeking opportunities to invest their fund in different securities. As an issue manager and underwriter, IDLC is helping big companies to issue share in to the market which increase the supply of the securities. On the other hand it is creating demand for the shares by providing loan to the investors. It is also providing order placement service which helps the investor to take quick decision and execute the trade. IDLC Investments Limited is performing its activities in such a way, that why number of client of it increasing day by day. It is a very good sign for a capital market. IDLC Investments Limited is a providing good return to its parent company as well as the country
