In America there is a number of invasive species but the one I chose the Brown trout. The Brown trout is a european species of the salmonid fish family. The Brown Trout’s scientific name is Salmo trutta. It was introduced in the mid 1800’s to america. The reason why the Brown trout is an invasive is because the Brown trout competes with other native species of fish(and obviously wins) and in some cases end up breeding with them. This has conservationist worried about the genetic makeup of the native species.…
In this article, the author asserts that spreading the zebra mussel in North America is a threat since this invasion cannot be stopped, and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that there are some ways to stop the spreading of this fish because our knowledge is increased and it is not limited. He also contrasts with the author's reasons by proving the additional convincing information.…
This article explains why the Zebra Mussel is so good at being an invasive species. How it moves to new lakes and how it thrives.…
Imagine your house being invaded with foreign people disrupting your everyday life and threatening your existence. This is the sad reality of the Great lakes which have been bombarded with over 70 invasive species, including the Zebra Mussel. The Zebra Mussel has taken over the Great Lakes bottom, disrupting native food chains, environments, and species. The Zebra Mussel have endangered many native species and pose a threat to humans as well. With Zebra Mussels taking over the Great Lakes and threatening our natural resources, it clearly shows that action must be taken to protect a natural resource from an invasive species.…
There is a large population of zebra mussels in the Hudson River. The zebra mussel migrated from Europe on the bottom of boats. This organism’s population has greatly increased in the last few years and is causing many problems for the environment. The zebra mussel has a very negative effect on the environment surrounding the Hudson River because they are depleting the food supply of the fish, causing changes in the water, and taking up a lot of room.…
1. Four species appear in the Species Tracking box in the lower left: cougar (or Florida panther), house mouse, Burmese python, and red-eared slider. Note that the python population is set to 0 because in this first simulation, they have not yet been introduced to the ecosystem.…
An invasive species is defined as a species that is non-native or alien to a community or ecosystem that was introduced by humans and has turned invasive, spreading widely and coming to dominate in the community causing economic or environmental harm. The cane toad is an example of an invasive species. It is a large, strong, and healthy amphibian that is native to Central and South America. They are predators of insects and other small prey. The cane toad was introduced to Australia in 1935. The reason that it was brought to Australia was to try to control the pest beetles that were destroying fields of sugarcane before the use of chemicals. It was a catastrophic mistake. The cane toads failed to eat the beetles and they…
Invasive species are annihilating the population of majestic creatures. One example of an invasive species is the Pythons, these creatures are invading Florida and will reach New York in 2020. Pythons are extremely elusive, so it’s hard to catch them. Another example of an invasive species are the starling birds, these birds can roost in hordes up to 1 million. Starling birds are lethal because of their droppings which can cause diseases. Additionally, medflies are terrorizing farm fields because of their broad range of appetites for fruit. In addition, about 2.3 million wild pigs are in Texas, and they have a large appetite for deer, quail, lamb, and calves. They also destroy land and cause approximately $400 million dollars of repair a year.…

Invasive species are a major threat to the United States; mostly Florida. These species are the worst ones we have in Florida.“We are ground zero for the impacts of invasive species,” says Doria Gordon, the director of conservation science for the Florida chapter of the Nature Conservancy (TNC) . “And our invaders are very good at finding new habitats.” Usually those habitats are around South Florida in the everglades. The mix of suburbs and wilderness around the area of the everglades, makes the Everglades a place where all species can live.…
“Help, help we have invasive species running wild out here, someone quick call animal control”. “That’s right Carrie out in Australia and in the Everglades we have major problems. In the Everglades Burmese Pythons are eating everything they can find and in Australia red foxes are killing off the penguins, but wait stay right there we will be right back with more news on these invasive species running wild”. Invasive species means “an animal or plant that is brought into a new environment that damages the animals and plants that live in that environment” (8). Invasive species are an international problem, but creative solutions are being attempted (some more successful than others).…
Analyze the impact that the extinction of a species will have on an environment. Determine what you believe to be the most significant impact, and explain why.…
Invasive species are living organisms that cause harm to a environment they are not native to. Invasive species are extremely important because they tend to cost society and nature a lot of damage. For example, invasive species can have an effect on half the species that are endangered in their native land .They can also contaminate the soil which can lead to the alteration of hydrology in streams, wetlands, lakes and rivers. The Black Rat (ship rat) is one of the worst known invasive species. They have a close relationship to brown rats and have similar characteristics. The Black Rat initially originated in Asia during the 14th century. It struck Europe from being carried in by ships, slowly spreading to different continents making the Black…
Invasive species are groups of organisms that are unnaturally occurring to an area. When introduced, they can cause economic and physical harm to humans and ecosystems. The importing, legally and illegally, of invasive species into our society is not only harmful to our population and our ecosystem but also the population of plants and animals in their indigenous homeland.…
In many opinions, invasive species becoming introduced to a different environment is not deemed acceptable. With many situations incorporating these species, they are sought to be pests, only trying to make lives difficult for others. Many also have come to believe, from experience, that these insidious species cause harm to the environment of which they are newly exposed to. The businesses and/or government agencies that bring invasive species to a new environment must consider many measures before transferring and following through with brings the species forth to a new location. With careful considerations of transportation, other natural predators, the actual environment and the sole purpose, the business and/or government agency must vigilantly take into consideration the actions it is about to partake in.…
