ABSTRACT

Nanotechnology, shortened to "nanotech", is the study of the controlling of matter on an atomic and molecular scale. Generally nanotechnology deals with structures of the size 100 nanometers or smaller in at least one dimension, and involves developing materials or devices within that size. Nanotechnology is very diverse, ranging from extensions of conventional device physics to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly, from developing new materials with dimensions on the nanoscale to

As far back, from my school years, as I can remember the word atom signified the smallest particle of matter. This is a very layman like attitude a scientist would abhor, because a scientist knows that this concept of ‘the smallest particle of matter ' has been changing rapidly over the years. The Greeks, it is said, coined the word “atom”. When this concept was articulated by the Greeks, there were no electronic equipments or high-tech labs to verify and further explore this “atom”. Technological advances have given today’s physicists the needed methods and means to explore matter in ways never possible in the early days of the atom.…

What is Nanotechnology Manufacturing? The concept behind Nanotechnology is maneuvering molecules and/or atoms to fabricate resources and formations straightforwardly, in addition to utilizing the exclusive traits of matter at the Nano scale. The definition of technology is "the application of science and scientific knowledge for industrial or commercial objectives," then in its most simplistic form, nanotechnology is defined as "the application of science and scientific knowledge, at the Nano scale, for industrial or commercial objectives." In order to understand the size of material/matter involved at the Nano scale level, one needs to trace down the units of measurement, commencing with an ant (at the mill scale) and ending at the very bottom, at the Nano scale. The Nano scale is far…

Do you believe in technology? Or do you think that all inventions of scientists are worthwhile for humanity? Of course, lots of these inventions are helpful and useful. Also, some of them have created new periods in past. They played a big role for coming modernity. However, there are some inventions that seem very effective but they have brought new problems for humanity and environment. Especially, at the beginning of an invention, people don’t realize that it will become big problem. Nowadays, people are taking notice of this kind of things. Nanotechnology is one of these inventions which are needed to be discussed from point to point. Today, there are some people who believe that nanotechnology is dangerous; however some scientists think that nanotechnology has great benefits because it helps people to invent new things for the future.…

Atom is the fundamental building block of all stuff, or what scientists like to call "matter". An individual atom is very small. In fact, the smallest type of atom, hydrogen, has a diameter of 10-8 cm. Every single object is composed of atoms. Our body is made up of many, many individual atoms. There are also many different types of atom. These different types are called elements. Examples of some elements are hydrogen, oxygen, and helium. Under normal conditions many atoms can stick together to form larger, different stuff. Scientists call material that results from the joining of different types of atoms "compounds". Atoms are not the smallest things there but are made up of still smaller stuff. Also, atoms can be broken apart into smaller constituents.…

Nowadays the realm of Nanotechnology has getting much attention at globally. If the old days, bigger is much more preferable and fascinating, but now small has become much attention from most of the study. Most of definition on Nanotechnology revolves around the study and control of phenomena and materials at length scales below 100 nm. Beside that’s, Nanotechnology refers to the constructing and engineering of the functional system at very micro level/ atomic level. According to Bawa, R. Stephen B. Maebius, & e.t. al. (2005), Nanotechnology is the design, characterization, production, and application of structures, devices, and systems by controlled manipulation of size and shape at the nanometer scale (atomic, molecular, and macromolecular scale) that produces structures, devices, and systems with at least one novel/superior characteristic or property.…

According to the US National Cancer Institute (OTIR, 2006) “Nanotechnology will change the very foundations of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention”. We have already seen how nanotechnology, an extremely wide and versatile field, can affect many of its composing disciplines in amazingly innovative and unpredictable ways. In fact, nanotechnology and the ideas and methods that it encompasses can be applied to almost any problem that leading researchers face today. Even the most seemingly impossible problems like HIV and cancer become only obstacles in the path to solutions, if we take an imaginative approach. Of course, this is quite logical, since everything around us is made up of atomic and molecular matter, and all of our problems are ultimately rooted in atomic and molecular arrangements. Nanotechnology has at last provided a way for us to rearrange and restructure matter on an atomic scale, allowing us to reach down to the very roots of any problem. Provided that we can thoroughly understand the problem on an atomic scale and develop the know-how to turn our innovative ideas for the perfect…
